Ok more pet peeves. Seems like most traders don't bother going to their beers selecting the ones they have and clicking the FT option so other will know what's up for trade. The site has all these amazing features that allows you to find who has the beer you want, with a few clicks, but it's all for not because most traders don't bother using the beer / FT option and prefer to just abbreviate everything which is another thing I hate. I mean if I want to search a trading form for a beer I could go to search and type in the name of the beer. The problem with every guy being to lazy to type out the name of the beer it doesn't work because all the names i'm searching for are abbreviated!!

I guess I need to find that feature and use it! I thought it was trading by only looking at the Forums board.

I am on the opposite spectrum with the black or electrical tape. I would be happy with the mummy wrap versus not tape on the cap at all. If beer is going to travel it's going to go through differential amounts of pressure (assuming it's going on a plane). I wouldn't want any chance of leakage. Maybe my rationale is way off I just dont get the difficulty in prying off some black tape. Far less annoying than a heavily waxed bottle.

This is next level stuff I’ve never noticed - thank you for sharing! For those interested the path - assuming you’ve listed some of your beers already...

Beers / Your Beers / Gots
Select the beers you are willing to trade
    Scroll down and click trade
Now ‘FT’ will also appear in your Wants/Gots/FT/Places

Yeah the system in place would work if traders actually used it. I mean wouldn't it be great if you could just bring up a beer see who has it on their FT list and just message them directly to work out a trade?

The problem is that it's too time consuming to do this.

If there was a way to dump your excel sheet or word document or whatever you use as a cellar list into BA to add all the beers, that'd be fine. But that's not how it works. You have to go in manually and add each and every one. That's a pain if you have 200-400 beers like I do. Granted not all of those are FT, but I bet I could add a solid 100 beers to a "wants" list, which would be way too time consuming.

Finally, it'd also be time consuming to go in and remove it every time you drink or trade a beer you previously had on your FT list. Then you have to add another (or several) every time you buy or trade.

BA didn't really create a trader-friendly system for this.

I’ve tried another site where you enter your haves and you wants and it is supposed to match people up... it’s terrible.

Yeah I get that it is time consuming especially in your situation with all your beers, but for me I spend 10 times more "time" browsing the FT list trying to find someone who wants what I have and I want what they have especially since you can't search using beer names since everyone is trying to save time by abbreviating.

It's like a never ending merry go round trying to find "that" guy that wants what you have and has what you want. I'm sure it would be great to have a csv import option for premium members.

I'm going to give it a try. Take 5 minutes here and there over the weeks with my cellar to include the items I'd be willing to trade.

I do it, but I’m just a bit anal about keeping track of things even if it’s bottles of beer. I go as far as adding beers one day even if I drink it the next, pointless I know. It helps me keep track of things I have on hand whether it’s in the fridge or the cellar. I’ve also tried exploring other users to see if they do it to maybe link up a trade for a bottle I want/have, but few keep it up to date so it ends up being fruitless the majority of the time I’ve tried.

I only had a hand full of beers, but to be honest it's not that hard just click on all the beers you have first to add them to your beers then go to your profile and just check all the ones you want to trade and hit FT only took me a few minutes and I did it all on my cell while lets just say on the "stuck in a seated position" for say 5 min...

I'm with @Beer_Economicus on this one. I find it a bit of a hassle. I've tried to use it a couple times and it just didn't work for me. I don't mind browsing through the ISO/FT threads

I just had a guy put unpopped popcorn kernels right in the box. The corner of the box ripped a bit and kernels were just spilling out of the box. This is a first and easily the most annoying thing I have ever encountered.

How about rice. A couple handfuls just thrown into the box. Thumbs down.

Woah hot damn on your first trade. I want to tell you it gets better from here. This whole noise maker thing is ridiculous to me. Pack your bottles upright all day every day and drop your boxes off with a FedEx label when an employee is occupied smiling saying "no receipt thank you" and in good sharpie printing this side up.. no "fragile"... no calling attention to yourself. I dont know what jackass started to suggest to people that noise makes were a good idea in the world of shipping but I'd like to have a nice fireside chat and talk some sense into him/her.

You’ve only been lucky to this point... don’t expect that to last.

A little bit of noise cover is a welcome thing. Sure I prefer the rice or coins in a plastic bottle, but I’d rather have it just poured in than not have it at all.
