Dude, did you not blend the hotness level of the bride, let alone the bridesmaids, into your calculations?

The board of directors of the Brewers Association is proposing by-law changes that would create a new "member class":

I think they’re redoing the 6mm number to make it clearer. It is going to be prior BBC annual bbl production + 1

But both Boston Beer Co.'s barrelage figures, total (inc. cider and FMBs) and "Beer only", have been going down the last couple of years, according to BMI and B.A. stats.

    2015
    4.241 Million bbl. -Total barrelage
2.525 Million bbl. - "Beer only"

    2016

    4.005 Million bbl.- Total barrelage
2.315 Million bbl. - "Beer only"

    2017

    3.75M bbl - Total barrelage
2 Million bbl. - "Beer only"

If anything, it looks as if the seemingly arbitrary "under 6M BBL" limit the B.A. instituted after dropping the US TTB "Small Brewery" definition for the Reduced Excise Tax rate of 2M BBL might have been overly optimistic?

They further note that 6M BBL is "...approximately 3 percent of U.S. annual sales...". Of course, the only US brewing companies over 3% are MC and AB, while both Heineken and Constellation with their Mexican imports are also over the figure. (Pabst was down to 2.3% in 2017).

Mind if I use this? I can see myself getting some serious mileage from it.

I've somehow never even heard of this place. Just looked them up and they look like a pretty big chain. Am I missing anything?

Some places have some pretty solid beers, but, as a rule, I don't bother with them. The head brewers have a lot of control over what gets made, so you have some substantial variability from location to location. FWIW, the RB in Denver usually has some pretty awesome beers on during GABF week.

When I was at Emerson College 18 years ago it was a very welcome place around the corner to try a variety of styles. Of course the beer landscape has changed so much since then I doubt Rock Bottom has kept up. Great happy hour food specials though

Hi Harrison8, no reversal of opinion, I think my post said something like it doesn't matter how friendly the dog is, some people have fear. Of course I do realize that we can always go somewhere else if there are too many dogs. But that is why I posted the "controversial" opinion, that I don't think dogs should be allowed at breweries. I actually love dogs and don't mind them being around.. My wife on the other hand...

Well the Rock Bottom in Indianapolis was the first place I ever had cask beer (winter of 98, iirc), so that's something .

Same for me with the Boston Beer Works in around '92. That's part of why I still have fond feelings for them even if they aren't what they used to be anymore.

I imagine both places (and others like them) left an impression on a lot of folks back in that era that is still paying dividends today.

Oh, you're right. You're not the original person I responded to with the quote.

I think we're on the same page anyway regarding dogs and kids in breweries, so long as there are some without, I'm okay with it.

Rock Bottom was the only 'brewery' I was able to visit on my Chicago trip until the final night, when I was able to visit Half Acre. Rock Bottom wasn't bad and the bar staff was very friendly and helpful, in both trying beers on tap and making the most of my last night in Chicago when I actually had time to explore for me.

I could see how it would be unhip, and when I saw it in Indianapolis, I decided to skip it, but at least the one in Chicago provided me with some beer, a good chat, and a respite from my long walk in the rain.

The Chicago RB is cool. Stayed at the Hilton right across the street from it one year, and had beers there while waiting for them to get a room available. Pretty convenient.

My youngest helped me with brewing beer as a child, and definitely witnessed responsible alcohol consumption at home. He may have missed out on learning at a young age that adults swear a lot when they are out drinking, that too much drinking can make people sick and act stupid, that drinking only a few drinks and then driving is buzzed driving, and hearing me comment about asshole parents who leave with a buzz and get into a car to drive their children. OTOH he doesn't drink at all never has (he's sober completely), and he partly put himself through school by being the paid designated driver for drinking trips to Canada for classmates too young to drink in U.S.(he went to school a few miles from border). I guess he missed out on all the great benefits parents point to for dragging their young kids to adult drinking establishments, or being in the car when they drive buzzed (I had a zero tolerance policy for alcohol and driving with children in car). I only hope he can forgive me for it.

Drinking more than several and driving is an ignorant decision. Any time, anywhere. It is a ticking time bomb. I have some friends who were unable to talk their guest out of driving from their mountain home, across a one lane bridge above the rushing Watauga River. They found him the next morning upside down in the river and drowned. This couple has great guilt and have never recovered.
