    SUcks.

I'm just outside CHicago....More cases around here then retailers know what to do with.

    No limits either.

Last year I bought BB by the case...this year my local beer store is limiting distribution to one 4 pack per customer. Thankfully, my wife stopped into a small cafe for lunch today and they had two 4 packs on the shelf. I still have 1/2 case from last year so the three from this year should set me up nicely for the coming winter.

Got lucky. Found 2 unopened cases on the floor of my local establishment and opened the first case myself and grabbed 3 4-packs. That was my mistake. I should have taken the whole case.

I mentioned it in the Great Lakes thread, but I spotted a whole case at GB Russo in Grand Rapids today.

Nice find, but don't feel bad about leaving some behind. Think of it as your way of making sure that some other BA gets an opportunity to try it.

You mean you should have started a thread about the moral dilemma of opening the case? ;-)

I love how some areas get tons of this and or can't sell it meanwhile other areas (like I dealt with today in Columbus) get a case or two per store and ration it out a bottle at a time.

That said, a retail owner a know said Founders forces a store to commit to buying something like 25 cases of flagship stuff to get a case of limited stuff. Maybe that's the hold up...

Finally scored a 4-pk here in CT. One shop (where a friend bought a 4-pack today) told me they didn't get any in... LIARS
The other shop down the street let me buy a 4-pk out of their single case and a 4-pk of Harvest as well. One shop lost a customer and one just got a repeat customer.

Just an FYI...that retailer was lying to you. Like most limited releases go (for most breweries) the beer goes to the stores that sell the most of their brand throughout the year. There is not any future commitment.

    this stuff sits around here.

for good reason, I think it's one of the worst bourbon barrel beers out there. But hey, that's just like, my opinion.

Found 2 full cases in the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area tonight. Washtenaw Liquor (on Washtenaw Ave in ypsi, just east of Hewitt Rd and West of EMU campus). I asked the guy at the counter, he said no, but the other guy said they just got a Founder shipment in, went and looked at the cases on the floor and there were 2 unopened cases. I only bought one 4-pack, so there's still plenty there. It wasn't on the shelves yet. GL fellas.

It was more likely the distributor actually (though not sure if there's a difference to you on that end). You may be right but this person had no reason to lie and is someone I've known for years now. Just because your store never had this happen doesn't make my story untrue.

Im not trying to argue bud, just trying to give you a little insight...Regardless of what/who youre referring to, distributor or brewery, the beers go to the stores that sell the most of that breweries beer for the past 12 months. This is (almost) always the case regarding the very limited brews (ie Founders specialties). For certain other limited seasonals (but not extremely limited beers) it can be a combination of past sales & salesman/store buyer relationship. There is not a commitment towards any future buying.

I do not work at a beer store but wanted to clarify how releases of this nature typically work...

Yeah I get that, but I know in this case it happened.

Maybe they told the store that their sales were too low to get the beer but said that if they committed to buying an additional 25 cases the store could get some. Which kind of makes sense but still comes off as a dick move to me given they were being compared to grocery chains and whatnot that could easily out compete but who weren't going to be given CBS/KBS or whatever the beer was regardless...
