Yeah, that's the place we hit any time we're staying out there and need groceries/booze, so I was planning on stopping in there. Thought there was a bottle shop fairly close by, too? In Three Oaks?

Appreciate it! I'll let ya know. Not sure if I'll be at the Rev release for tar, cafe, and currants, but I'll definitely be at the ryeway/gravedigger/vanilla release. I'm planning on driving around for an hour or so looking for places that might have it this weekend. I imagine I'll find at least one, but who knows. You make the trip over there for the release? Have yet to see any in Illinois, and with some of the more recent info in here, who knows what stores will end up with some.

 

My sister lives in Michigan and she was able to grab me a 4 pack at the brewery when they released it. Having seen/heard anything on Chicago getting any though.

Picked some up at the store today bottled date 6-2-2017? Hard to eblieve this is last years release as I frequent this store and they never have vibtage stuff on shelf. Curious of date was wrong on bells part or if the shop misplaced it in the back. Anyone else notice oddities in dates?

 

I spoke to a beer guy at a store about two weeks ago who told me they recently received a shipment of last years BA Expo.

Interesting. I'm happy with aged or fresh. It doesnt matter to me because this beer is amazing either way

 

that is definitely one of (the only?) the bottling dates of last year's release.

 

The distributor likes to hold onto beers like this so they can leverage shelf turds later in the year. Stores that got last year's BAE within the last few months probably have a tall stack of whatever the distributor over ordered sitting out on the sales floor.

 

How are stores willing to play this stupid game? I seem to be missing the benefit for the store. To me it seems like the buyer at most stores realizes they are getting an allocated product to sell at X profit, but tying up/losing money paying for another product that won't move. Maybe the product moves slowly...but fast enough, I don't know...

Updates from anyone seeing this today would be helpful. Will hit a store or two to see if it's in Indy yet.

 

It mostly comes down to bragging rights. Store owners want to be the one that gets the most of the limited stuff. This of course comes at the cost of integrity.

 

I helped my local shop by purchasing Oberon, 2 hearted, and regular expedition instead of getting them at the local grocery chain. Figure that it can’t hurt.
