Jewel in Naperville is clueless to the CBS release, stopped by before work, not able to pick it up as they don't know if they have it/where it is.

I’m debating stopping by my local jewel because they were the same way last year. Not sure why they make an announcement online if they are not on the same page.

Was just at Jewel in Naperville on Ogden - they were ready for us, the unwashed masses ... all 7 of us. Dude was all business though - handed out numbers, asked us not to get back in line again, told us he had 2.5 cases (30 bottles). And he set the limit at ...1 - wtf? So he now has 23 bottles unsold, which I'm sure they will eventually sell, but really? $24.99 though - less than last year. Oh, and I walked in at 7:52 and was 5th in line. Two more people came after me.

These guys BA beers are always solid as are their sours. They are an underrated Chicago brewery, if you have a chance to stop by their brewery they have a small bottle shop with lot’s of stuff that doesn’t see distro and is usually pretty impressive.

Stopped at two stores (Palatine/Mt. Prospect) on my way into work, no line, but there were several people purchasing bottles, both looked to have about 3-4 cases.

Bucktown Walgreens has several cases out. Doesn’t appear to be a limit yet.

Just got back from Jewel at Ashland and Wellington. They appeared to have received 5 cases and have gone through just over 2 of them.

I'm trying to fight off FOMO and not pick up a bottle this year, but it's nice to hear that CBS isn't selling out at store open like it was last year.

Eventually we'll reach market equilibrium and I'll be able to wander into Binny's whenever I have a craving for CBS or something similar!

I got to my jewel at like 8:45, the front desk lady directed me to the back, said I was the 2nd person to ask for it. Then the jewel guy seemed frazzled when I asked him if there was still any CBS left, and he goes “so you know this beer is very limited so I’m doing a limit of 3 okay!!”

Needless to say, I got 2 and no clue how much he actually had in the back.

I'll probably grab one even though it's expensive. I cracked my bottle last year on Christmas Day and it was a wonderful experience.

It'll be better than 90% of the other hype stouts out there this year.

If its anything like last year, there will be more drops. I remember walking into Binny's McHenry late August and seeing CBS sit on the shelf.

Ya, I remember stopping by Glenview Jewels and they distributed them early to get the unclean beer horde out of their store ASAP and Mt. Prospect Jewels had a nuts line so I went to work instead.

Then like 2 weeks later I grabbed a bottle just sitting at Old Town Plum Market and it was fine. Guilty of a stupid case of FOMO on my part. This year a serving at a bar will work and I'm good until whenever they decide to release it next.

I saw somebody post that the pour he had from Founder's had less maple than last year. I had to whip out a telescope, and hire search party to find any hint of maple in the bottles of CBS I opened over the last year.

I just need to tell myself that CBS isn't groundbreaking anymore - it's not going to be as thick as I want, and the barrel presence isn't going to be as robust as I'd like. It will be a good beer that is probably worth picking up a bottle of though, and I'll still enjoy it.

Or you could jut buy some of it if you like it and not worry about whether other people think it’s good enough to buy.

Only posting this because it's my preferred option, but...

I vastly prefer maple syrup + KBS to CBS. Hell of a lot cheaper. -And it's scrimp-and-save-for-the-beers-that-count Season.

It’s amazing how fast this industry changes. CBS used to be worth it’s weight in gold.

Founders got too cute with it (delaying production to drive up hype) and they’re paying the price.

Also there is so much more competition. The same thing is happening to Floyds, Surly, Bells, etc. -- There's a new class of producers making great stuff, and distribution areas aren't all-important anymore.

Yeah, I'm not buying any CBS bottles this year. I was definitely disappointed with last years batch. I'll try it on tap and make my judgement then.

I was simply stating no need to run around and wait in lines dude. Or hoard like the guy who tried to buy an entire case in front of me.
