Founders CBS - Final 2018 Barrel Aged Series release.

For what its worth the did explain why they did it that way last year. They ship to something like ~20 different countries and they said that in markets outside the United States bombers of beer aren't a normal format and in order to guarantee space on the shelves in those markets they had to do 12oz bottles since that it what those markets expect. Due to the extreme unpopularity of that decision in the domestic United States market this year they decided to give everyone bombers so it doesn't look like they are playing favorites.

 

Any sightings in SE MI? My beer store said next week but Founders sightvsays in select Meijer stores today. Someone else said Holiday Market in Royal Oak has it earlier this week...

It's worth zero to me. They chose the wrong option...should have given everyone 4 packs.

 

Two distributors I called have it listed at $29.99. Ouch.

I have been making the same argument since the first page of this thread but it appears Founders made the calculation that the vast majority of these bottles are going to sell despite the format and they are likely right.

 

Give the guys at One Stop Gas & Foodmart a call, they show it for Monday but if they happen to have it in the back maybe you can talk them into a few. They are super nice so you never know maybe you will get lucky. They noted on their FB post expected Monday so not too sure but wanted to pass along. They always have a massive selection by the way, so you may want to check them out, always stocked with great beer and they have a ton to choose from.

Or is it the 3 Ps (Pennsylvania Pricing Pain)? I've seen references to significantly higher PA pricing in Sierra Nevada threads so maybe it applies to Founders products as well?

 

I don't see it here on my side of the state, but, apparently, people in Philly are getting gouged.

 

Last years I agree...I bought one for the "tick" as I'm sure many others did too. They won't get me to buy anymore though with this bottle format. I have a feeling that I'm not the only one with this opinion.

 

Definitely getting gouged in Philly. It's $30 in Alaska.

 

This year's draft version has much more maple than last year's. It reminds me of the draft-only release from 2014. I had a side-by-side yesterday, and the difference is stark in maple between 17 & 18. I much prefer the 18.
