Agreed. Can’t wait to try it assuming it get some. If anyone spots it in SE MI before me, buy for yourself and then post!

Grabbed a 4 pack at my local beer store in west Michigan. $29 a four pack. It was a decision between this and CBS. This is much cheaper per ounce than CBS and I like the 12oz bottle a whole lot better!

If Hamm's satisfies you why be on this site? BBA Expedition is definitely worth the price. I agree it's a one and done at that price but it's definitely worth a try. Nothing wrong with Hamm's although I'd prefer Genessee Cream Ale but neither is substantial compared to a bourbon barrel stout.

It’s called beer advocate, not barrel aged advocate.

Drink what you like and can afford. I will do the same.

    Enjoy

yeah but why advocate Hamms? $10 is nothing for a 12oz when comparing $100 12oz for KBBS. And I'm pretty sure you not buying BBA Expedition makes us all happier as it's one less person we don't have to compete with toward getting bottles. And also you're right this is beer advocate not barrel aged advocate but then again this is the BBA Expedition forum so why not head to another forum?

Buying a brand new car is nothing when comparing it to a vintage Hemi cuda.

I can advocate Hamms all I want. I read about it here and it got me to try a great AAL. My OP was about the price of BA expedition vs Willetized 22oz bottles.

    Enjoy

$29/4 ouch! Will have to think about this a little. A lot of good BA RIS out there these days for much less.

Even the brewery it was ~$26 I think. That means the distributor marked up like 10%. I wish it was cheaper but I don't think Bells is gouging as at all. the prices are in line with other big name BA stouts. KBS has been ~$25 here for at least 4 years. Some places charge more than $26 for a single CBS bomber

Yeah I hear ya. I'll probably bite the bullet and buy a 4 pack assuming I can find some. With the increasing prices and all the options these days for BA stouts, I need to draw the line somewhere but haven't yet. Guessing I'll buy 4 this year so I can try it then pass on it if it comes out again next year.

$27.99 for KBS and $30 for CBS here in New York ... checked today and no BBA Expedition, but I did notice a few bottles of 2017 goose island bourbon county... not sure of the price, but is it worth picking up?

Sorry, I was thinking regular expedition, not BBA my bad. I don't even see BBA, they must send all that shit to Detroit and out of state.

I disagree. You can get Weyerbacher SMS or Ballast Point BA V@S for $14 a 4-pk.

Don't know about the Weyerbacher as I don't see that in distro, but that BA VAS is a great comparison. And one I didn't think of. That's a great beer, great BA offering, one I love to have.

You disagree it was ~$26 at the brewery on release day? It was.

SMS and BA VaS are outliers price wise for BA stouts and I've personally never seen either for under $15 prior to tax (and VaS isn't even a stout but I digress..) Over $20 for a 4-pack of BA stout is common and the industry norm. I don't feel like getting to an argument over whether these are worth it but once again these prices are not out of line with the rest of the beers in this category. It the prices offend you that much don't buy this and drink SMS... Cherry picking the two cheapest examples of the style isn't really a solid argument.

I picked up a couple singles in Richmond, VA for $8 each, which is the same price I usually see Black Note going for.
