The Half-Acre thread (2018)

I'd gladly pay an extra $30 for the convenience of sitting at my desk at work to purchase the bottles. I can definitely take the morning off to wait in line, in the cold, for way too long, and I absolutely planned to. Now I can pay $30 to bypass all of that, and I have no problem with that at all.

 

Hasn't even been 24 hours and taxes already went up.

 

How little do you value your time? A good chunk of that is taxes too. the 24.99 and 29.99 do not include tax.

 

If you include Chicago sales tax the package is 121.23. That leaves 18.77 to cover booze tax, ticket fees, and any premium. This is a goddamn steal of a deal. Hell I would pay MORE for this package to avoid the line. My time at work is worth far more than any premium they would charge. This is some of the best HA news in a long time.

 

I swear to god if someone started a financial planning service for beer nerds they would make a fortune overnight.

 

LOL. Lets get on it! Somehow $30 beers are fine but 20$ to skip a multi hour line during the work day is somehow unjustifiable.

If tax is 10% plus liquor tax is 1.5% then how much are the FEES?!? I NEED TO KNOW BEFORE I COMMIT TO THIS $140 BEER PURCHASE!

Well fuck me. This is a tougher decision than I anticipated.

 

Gonna suck when there's 5000 people trying to mash their f5 key for this. Would love to pick one up, though, rather than wait in the line on Friday afternoon.

 

Nah. I'll probably still be waiting in it in the afternoon. Lol. I'll be there in the morning, though. Barring a win on the lottery front.

 

Jeebus, now I'm picturing a Schwab-style commercial comparing the fees between Half-Acre and other breweries...

I had been leaning towards just working a half day on that day and showing up around Noon to grab bottles, but that plan is out the window now. I'm back to my plan of being there very early, which I don't mind for some reason. I'll try for the bundle online, but I really would like a couple bottles each of those variants...which I'll only be able to get by standing in line.

 

As much as I like Half Acre, I'll be sitting this out and hoping to just catch a pour on tap. I just can't justify the price of these beers.

 

Missed out on Benthic last year so hoping to get that presale this year. It'll be a fun two beer days with this, FOBAB Friday night, and Rev cans on Saturday.

 

Leaning that way as well. If I buy bottles I'm gonna end up with just a pour anyways as I'll be sharing with family during the holidays. Gives me an excuse to go to Balmoral.
