That's been the same story for over a year. It was supposed to be a Warpigs US location. What's the hold up I have no idea.

I'm not sure how serious they ever were about a FFF brewpub in Chicago. I know it was announced in the Trib or something around 2012 but apart from "exploring locations" I don't think it was ever too serious. In fact in 2013 or 2014 Chris Boggess told me they would never build a Chicago location and that it was nothing more than rumors started by people who think everything good has to be in the city limits...

I'm guessing there could have been some legal hurdles as well related to their Brewers license and Indiana law.

Later that location on California was rumored to be a Warpigs Brewpub and it seemed actual work was being done but that seems dead in the water, it was never officially announced anyway. It is possible it was never going to be a Warpigs and just a regular bar that Nick Floyd was invested in. I think all he said is that he was collaborating on a bar, never said it was a Warpigs location.

With their huge expansion plans I wouldn't count on a Chicago location, probably ever.

It sounded like the Chicago thing came straight from Nick Floyd's mouth. They also announced the plan to open a brewpub in Copenhagen in collaboration with Mikkeller in the same article. One was serious and came to fruition, not sure why they would have joked about the Chicago one if they didn't intend to open one at the time. I agree with you later statements that there may have been legal impediments to making that happen and so they focused on other projects.

Yeah, I think Nick Floyd definitely said that, so not sure why Chris Boggess had such a stick up his ass when I asked him about it. Probably was just tired of hearing about it from Chicago yuppies.

And yeah, thinking the location on California would be WarPigs made total sense given the timing. But who knows.

Website is slightly updated, I assume they will announce the date in the next few weeks. Then comes the mad dash for a hotel room! Seems like DLD 2018 wasn’t that long ago, here’s to 2019!!

I can't imagine they won't have a Chicago place at some point. They could double or triple the size of the current brewpub and still be packed daily.

Hell, I've never been to FFF outside of DLD, so they'd be gaining at least one customer right here!

Just drank all the variants with a few people the other day

    Chemtrail
    Handjee
    HDQ
    Space force
    Brotilla
    Brozerker
    FVM
    Cavalero
    Lounge Against
    Greatest Teachable
    Turtle dog

In that order, best to worst

The bottom 3 were awful. Almost no one could finish the Turtle.

The Greatest Teachable Moments of the Turtledogg, indeed. I could say you should have been forewarned about your bottom two. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Lounge Against was that bad? I've never had it but have been quite curious about it (tried trading for it a few times but didn't quite work out). Tequila barrels aren't my thing but rest of the additives are. Was it just too much tequila? Was your palate already wrecked (was it one of the last bottles you had)?

Lounge is pretty damn similar to CTM - a touch more complex maybe. Really interesting you have it so low.

The tequila barrel is way in the back. Not very prominent at all. A bit of the pepper and tangerine citrusy-ness was more prominent than the barrel. Cinnamon was the dominant flavor, much like CTM.

Had Lounge about a week ago and fully agree other than that I didn't get much/any tangerine. Tons of cinnamon, not sure how Chemtrail can be at the top of the list and Lounge at the bottom. Even if you hate tequila it wasn't really that strong. I just wish it had more pepper to it (but I know tons of people would disagree; they're wrong, muerte was always delicious).

I haven't had them all and the ones I've had weren't all side by side but of what I've had my order would be: CTM, Lounge, Handjee, Brotilla, FVM, HDQ, Brozerker. I do seem to be in the minority for not loving HDQ which is odd since I've always been a big lover of BBDL and actually preferred it to handjee in past years.

I haven't had Turtledogg, but I recently had the 2017 Dia Oscura and surprisingly loved it. I thought the scotch complemented the base nicely. I would take one over any of the wine variants from the past few years.

Looking back at my Untappd it appears that I liked Lounge. I have it a 4.25. Must have mixed it up in my rankings. Eleven bottles is a lot to work through. Looking back I’d put it between Spaceforce and Brotilla.
