Random fact, but Night Stalker is actually not the base for BCBS. My source is the GI Bourbon County brewer who presented and gave a tour at Life of a Barrel event. Someone specifically asked him whether Night Stalker was base of Bourbon County, and he said no. He said it's 'kinda, sorta, but not really' similar recipe to the base stout. I tried the base... it was very sweet and hoppy bitter.

I heard years ago that the base beer had been released a time or two on its' own...and that it's called Cook County Stout.

This goes against everything I've ever heard about Night Stalker.

Agreed and I've taken this same "life of a barrel" course and to be honest the base BCBS didn't taste that far off from Night Stalker.

I thought (meaning I read here) someone said that Big John was closer to BCBS?

I also haven't had Nightstalker in like 5 years, so I have no idea how close to BCBS it is/was.

Your right. Night stalker is not the base for BCS however Cook Country stout is the base for both.

    BCS - BBA CCS
    NS - DH CCS
    BJ - Cacao Nib CCS

Ah I may have misread the comment initially, but yes, my understanding is the base for each is the same.

They are all the same base beer. Night Stalker, Big John, and Bourbon County are all Cook County Stout with different treatments because supposedly CCS is pretty gross. Its a massive beer built for doing other things with it.

Night Stalker is Dry Hopped CCS
Big John is CCS with Cacao Nibs but no barrel
    Bourbon County is BBA CCS

Prop 18 is essentially Double Chocolate BBA Big John

Guaranteed those won’t be the same prices here. That’s NYC price gouging at its finest.

That's high even for NY. I recall someone mentioning paying $18 for Coffee last year. Those are all (obviously) above that.

I don't believe GI publicly shares SRPs on these. I don't recall seeing any mention of it in the past anyway. The first prices we see around here are typically when Binny's announces their prices.

I'm in Chicago each year for Thanksgiving, and this year, I'll be staying in NJ. I will miss the Binny's line.

Still, even if you estimate it(and he's missing Prop from the list) it comes out right around $250 or so. Which is what most estimated for the full set. That's around what I figured it would be.
