Does anyone know if GI usually shows the Bears game at Prop Day?

Also I think this was my first post so hi everyone :waves:

Your first post on BA and it's wanting to know about a sports game being played. Haha. Welcome to BA, where the trolls troll, the nerds nerd & the critics critique! But seriously, I don't have any actual info to your inquiry, but wanted to say welcome.

I'll be streaming it on my phone. The cost of admission to watch is one prop.
    Vanilla if the bears win.

    Also, Coor’s Light is solid.

Links Taproom had ‘15 prop on draft last year at some point. I’d guess September/October-ish.

Binny's releases their pricing the morning of Black Friday. It is possible that might change this year due to opening at 7am.

There is probably a deal that pricing can't be released until after customers get raked over the coals at Prop Day.

All I know is I paid 24.99 for Prop, 25.99 for Reserve and ( I think) 22.99 for Northwoods at Binnys last year. I see similar pricing this year with the variants being 22.99 and Barleywine Coffee taking the usual price point of Barleywine and Wheatwine being the price of Coffee.
    Maybe?

    Not I said the fly.

On a related note, too soon to start the, "A guy I know who knows a guy said they had to dump a bunch of coffee because it's infected. Trust me." rumor? I mean, this shindig is only 2 weeks away.

Been legit surprised we have seen nothing in the forums about it yet. May not be a BCBCS, but there is a BCBCBW afterall!!!

Eh, I made a conscious decision to not slum it over in the General forum this year. I'm sure it's mentioned there. That's where it started last year IIRC.

For those not waiting in line, it looks like there's still tickets available for the 9am Black Friday tasting at Goose Clybourn.

I loved the Prop 16 that was served at Prop Day. Much more dark bakers chocolate. I had what they called prop 16 out of a keg and it was garbage. Drain pour. Not sure what exactly was poured or kegged but they were not the same beer. We asked the manager to confirm it was “Prop 16” and he stated that is what the keg said. Not so sure.

Controversial Opinion Alert: 2017 Proprietor (bottled version) has already gone the way of 2014...straight up cinnamon bomb. The liquefied banana bread beauty is now a dull shadow of it's former self.

I remember reading that kind of feedback when Prop 16 was being released. First time I had it, it was at Black Friday tasting at Clybourne and it tasted like someone crammed a bunch of smoked salted meet into a bottle. I really didn’t get a good first impression. I had it another couple of times shortly thereafter, out of a bottle and on tap, and it was basically the same thing. I was so disappointed that I ended up trading all of my bottles away. This last time was first time I had a positive impression of it (it was from draft at GI Clybourne again). I never got that dark bakers chocolate flavor before this last time. Seems like there are some wide variations in that vintage.

Ha, that’s funny. I just had it a couple of weeks ago from bottle for the first time in a while. Split the bottle with the fiancé, and when I opened it we both made a comment just based on the aroma: banana bread. There was almost no cinnamon in flavor or aroma. But when I first had it a couple of times shortly after the release in ‘17, I got a lot more cinnamon (with some banana flavors still present, so not all cinnamon).

Interestingly enough, I had a Prop 14 bottle about a month and a half ago and it was the first time I had it with the prominent coconut present, and I really liked it. All the times I’ve had it before, it had the cinnamon gingerbread cookie kind of flavor (and I like cinnamon so I thought it was delicious then also) but I was really surprised at the coconut flavor this last time and how good it was.

Not sure if it’s bottle to bottle variation, storing condition of the bottles, my palate changing or just what I had to eat/drink before I had it,... whatever it is, I got differing pronunced flavors from all the vintage year Prop I’ve had over time (‘14, ‘16 and ‘17. I had ‘13 and ‘15 only once so I can’t comment on multiple flavors out of those).

Not saying that it was 100% what you ate/drank that day, but any time I plan to drink something that I have been looking forward to (whether that is just a vintage Regular BCBS, or a special bottle) I always try to be super conscious of what goes into my mouth before and during consumption. To the point that my wife has asked if we should have XYZ for dinner, and I say "no, that's too aggressive of a flavor for the beer we are going to open tonight." If not planning/looking forward to something, and I want a beer, I otherwise just open something that won't be harmed or will mesh well with the food consumed.

Considering GI is selling 2 bottles of Prop and Vanilla for $70 total should tell you about what the prices will be. Add a few bucks a bottle for retail pricing and there ya go.
