Just to add to this. Little Beast posted on IG with the opening of their new brewery they will be brewing more styles of beer. First day they brewed an Imperial Oatmeal Stout destined for tequila barrels.

Very timely post. I'd been meaning to stop by for a while now, and figured today should be the day. I'm here now.

Very minamlist, modern space with a long bar and a half dozen tables and chairs. Fairly small space, with one flat screen tv and piped in music (Grateful Dead channel?). 8 beers on tap; everything is priced at $6 a glass, with interpreter and a 8.2 % oatmeal stout served in 10 ounce glasses. They don't have a sampler tray per se, but you can get a 5 ounce pour of most beers for $3 a pop.

For me, the standouts here are clearly the ipas (west coast and ne styles). The coffee porter is pretty decent as well. The stout and amber are pretty mehh, and I'm not liking at all the fluorescent animals tart fruit ale (not my style, and doesn't seem like a very good representation of the style).

Interesting place, but probably not a spot I would recommend to out of town visitors, unless they just have to have a glass of translator ipa or interpreter dipa (which admittedly, are both quite good - but can be found around town pretty easily).

Many thanks for your honest take John! Quite helpful in planning my next trip North to visit relatives and sample more PDX goodness. Cheers

Much appreciated here too. I’ll be in town this weekend for the Celtics game, am staying close to Moda, and was planning on hitting Ruse, Wayfinder, and Upright this trip, but I think I’ll swap Ruse for Modern Times and look for their beers elsewhere.

One thing to know about Ruse is they don't serve food, but there's plenty of spots in Sellwood to get something to go and bring with you.

I would add that some of the their limited production stuff (namely Papyrus Iris) aren't seen all that much outside the brewery anymore. Also I really enjoyed their bottled table beer and some of their sours.

So I'm driving down to California to see a buddy who used to live up here. I asked if there was anything I could bring down and the only thing he wanted was a growler of Pallet Jack. I was planning on trying to stick to the coast as much as possible, so Bend/Baker City aren't really on the itinerary.
How prevalent is that likely to be around and about? Any spots in particular to look out for? Also broadening the question to not just Portland, but elsewhere in Western Oregon, since I may not be coming through the city area until late/after business hours?
Also, remind me with Oregon... can I bring a growler from home to get filled or does it have to be from the establishment doing the filling? Thanks y'all

Pallet Jack is pretty easy to find in Portland. Check the BrewNotice app or Untappd to see who has it on.

And Oregon is just as chill about growler laws as we are.

Awesome. Just what I was hoping to hear! Any insight in to whether it would be likely to be available in one of the smaller markets out along the coast?

I'd say it's possible, but you'd have to get lucky. I've stopped in here before, and as you can see they have Barley Brown's and Boneyard available for fills: http://liquoroutletstores.com/Tap_List_Lincoln_City.html

Cool. Thanks. We'll see what timing ends up looking like, and if I can make it work to nab some in Portland, awesome, and if not, unfortunately we may have to do without.
    Thanks y'all!

Big Legrowlski frequently has it on tap and is open late. Not sure if they put their taplist online but you could probably call.

I see they have Notorious at their Salem facility. It may work depending where you decide to cross over to the coast.............

Called and they do indeed have it on tap, they fill growlers, and they'll be open until 0200 tomorrow night. I think we've got a bingo! Thanks for the suggestion!

Great weekend in Portland. Hit Wayfinder and Modern Times back to back on Sunday evening, both were great, Wayfinder might be my new favorite spot to drink a beer in Portland, among breweries. Lots of space, really relaxed atmosphere, and the deck is killer. I could’ve drank next to the fire pit all night.

If it's possible to update the OP it would be worth noting that Von Ebert has 2 locations now that they've opened at Glendoveer golf course. All the beers are currently being produced at the downtown spot, but based on some recent FB posts they're getting close to having the new brewery up and running.

That also kind of ties into the comments about Level; if you're going to drive out to 140th and Glisan, Level is only 5 minutes up the road. For that matter, Migration's new facility on the west edge of Gresham is also only about 10 minutes away. All 3 of them are ~15 minutes from the airport.

I'm not sure it's worth driving all the way out there just for beer given that Migration and Von Ebert both have spaces in the core of the city, but if you happen to be staying at a hotel out by the airport or visiting someone out in east county it's nice to know there are options that don't involve driving into town.

I don’t know much about the costs involved in a brewery, but doesn’t 450 seem really low?

The text of the ad says "450k for all," so the headline is either a typo or the "k" was left out intentionally for clickbait.

If it is Alameda, $450k sounds about right. Unless something changed recently, they don't own the building, so all you're really buying is the brewing equipment, kitchen stuff, rights to the brand names & recipes, etc.
