Sucks I didn’t get the tickets earlier since I’m working Friday but I think it’s still better than waiting in the cold. When I was a young man, I was all about it. But now that I’m getting closer to death every day, I’d rather just take a spin of the wheel of chance and see what awaits.

What a great release! ... for entertainment purposes of this thread that is.

It sounds like it was an atrocious release if you wanted the actual beer part.

This was 300 allocations. The release is at the brewery. Did everyone really think they were going to get one of 300 allocations when any neckbeard from any part of the world could log into this janky ticketing website to buy an allocation?

Please post more often, this made me laugh at myself a bit, in part because it did hit close to home...

I think most people (on this forum at least) aren't that mad about not getting the beer. Most people's reaction to that part is / has been "aw shucks". Losing a lot of time and not getting the beer is where it starts to feel like an F U from the brewery.

Yeah, it's the method. I don't even blame HA that much, because I doubt they had any idea what a shitshow this site would be.

We're probably only a year or two away from Benthic hitting distribution though, right guys?!?

I imagine the draft quantities will be similarly plentiful to Rev where if you don't make it on release day you are good to go for a few days to a week.

That's the method I prefer, however, this wast their response to a question on IG. Doesn't exactly load up a bunch of confidence.

there’s a limited amount of draft for each taproom, yes

Sounds like this was a cluster. Best lunch break ever here. Somehow I was able to make magic happen from my phone. Went 2 for 2 today. Kinda feels like in little league when you were facing the biggest, baddest pitcher in the league that was just wild enough to terrify you, and unexpectedly came away with some big hits by sticking your bat out there and closing your eyes.

My opinion on why it took so long to sell out. People actually got an allotment in the cart but didn’t realize it? This is what happened to me. Was in the Q like everyone else(on a couple devices). After a few minutes one screen just goes blank, I let it sit like that for a few more minutes and decide to refresh. I get the error screen. I go all the way back to google and click tbe link again. Get to the Page and notice the cart has a 1, much to my suprise it appears I have one. I enter all my info and error again. So I start all over again, cart still has item, fill it out again and this time it goes through and I get confirmation. So I am thinking maybe a bunch of people actually had some in carts and it took a lot of time for all those to timeout.....just glad I am not going to have to wait in 2 lines Friday.

Yeah, but I'm not a huge fan of HA's taproom. I like the place, but it's always crowded af when I'm there. Balmoral is just too out of the way. Rev's taproom is big and there's always plenty of space for me to stretch out and check my beers in on Untappd. :stuck_out_tongue:

It's not a huge deal either way, though, and maybe I'll try to swing by for lunch sometime soon.

Totally agree. I remember with fond memories the days years ago when I could get a seat at the bar at HA Lincoln. Now I walk by with the wife, take a look inside at the standing room only crowds and say "Change of plans, looks like we'll get cans to go." Love Balmoral, it is just a bit out of the way though.

Them only having "limited" amounts of draft is pretty darn disappointing depending on their definition of limited.

I imagine/hope the "limited" relates primarily to the variants? I remember grabbing pours of Benthic at Balmoral the week before Christmas last year.

Hopefully lasts at least the weekend. Have no intention plunking down for bottle given hassle/money but would like a glass to sample.

I definitely wouldn’t expect Benthic and its variants to stay on tap long. I don’t think they’ve lasted longer than a few days in the past, and their “limited” comment makes me think it’ll be similar this year.

Is the line for this usually insane? The ticket situation makes me think it might.

It was pretty bad the first time, and wasn't great the second (but there were bottles left over after the initial line dispersed).

My guess is that it will be pretty bad again this year thanks to variants, but it remains to be seen whether that will mean they're gone after the initial rush. Last year was the first time Big Hugs variants lasted past the pre-opening line, so it's hard to tell where we're at with Benthic.

My general rule of thumb with HA in specific is that I always assume their releases will be worse than I expect. They have some of the most rabid/dedicated fans in the city.

It was long at the beginning last year but you could easily walk up once the line died down. It was mentioned somewhere previously that bottles lasted until around 2, I think. This year could be a different story with the variants.
