Sadly not but I'll post in about 24 hours to offer some harebrained and drunken theories.

This was pretty much was I came up with when i said my $250 guess. I of course was not accounting for tax or a vintage.

Who knew the old musty bottles of 12 oz BCBS sitting in my basement could fetch such a forturne? 2010? Lol. The bottle itself says the stuff matures at five years of age.

I had a really old bottle of BCBS, I think a 2005 or 2006, wonder what that would be worth now...

I still have a 2009 12oz in the basement, at AB pricing should be about $40.

DB Brandy was far and away my favorite (it's also my favorite BCS of all time). Templeton was really good last night too and significantly better than I remember from previous tastings. Regal was again different. The regular DB was also very good. I like the Maple Bissel but wasn't overly impressed with it.

You’re correct, I forgot they don’t take direct calls at the Taproom. I tried calling once when King Henry was available earlier this year (wasn’t when I got there).

I'm afraid to know when they put KH out. Probably my all time favorite beer, not sure I'd be able to control myself...

I lucked into it randomly one time when I went to Fulton. I ended 'splitting' the bottle with my fiance. Definitely one of best beers I've had. I've been there probably half a dozen times since then and never saw it again. But if it's ever made available again when I happen to be there, it will be a no-brainer.

Out of curiosity, how much did it cost?

    I think it's a $100 bottle. Same as Prop 14/VR.

Eesh that's probably beyond my limit, but this is also sober me talking...

While I wouldn't buy a bottle of KH for $100, I think it's much more of a value at that price than a Prop 14 or VR, personally. It's older, rarer, and doesn't pop up f'ing constantly like those 2 seem to.

Agreed. It pains me though remembering paying like, $14 or whatever it was for bottles when it first came out.

Is KH still holding up though? I had it several years ago and it was amazing but at some point it has to start falling off. I mean it's 7 years old now.

Frankly, I'm not convinced that the bottle of OG Rare I had a couple years back was as good as it would've been fresh, but sometimes it's just worth it to say you had the beer.

I always thought Rare was "overrated" for what it was. King Henry is the real deal though. Would be fascinating to drink it now I think. I drank all of my four bottles within the first couple months of purchasing them.

King Henry is a barleywine, though. Even after Straight Jacket, I'll still always undersell them. :stuck_out_tongue:

I never had it fresh so I can’t comment beyond the fact that I was blown away by how good it was when I had it a few months ago. As far as years, I have to imagine the handling of the bottle (light/dark exposure) and constant optimal temperature plays a part in quality lasting longer over a bottle that’s been shipped 3-4 times and experienced numerous thermal cycles. At some age I’m sure the quality starts to drop off regardless of storing conditions, but King Henry also being a barleywine helps (as far as a style that tends to age more gracefully than some of the other styles or beers heavily loaded with adjuncts).

    Hi All,

Sadly, I won't be able to go do Black Friday in the morning like I really should. Are there any places in Chicago and Suburbs who do their releases later in the day? I know a couple places do reserve lists but those are a lot of times personal to the best buyers and rewards members.

Just thought to reach out - will go see by calling some shops. If I find out any I will let all of you know.

    Thanks!
