While that is true, there was a beer festival at Thopmson’s Point last Saturday so that is not reffective of a normal release day. I was up visiting my brother-in-law, didn’t bother to go down there because of the festival. Was pleased to avoid the 2 hour sell out and enjoy other places.

I know. I just did a quick stop and saw they were sold out, then went on my way. I missed visiting last year but the year before was a huge line that I skipped also. Seems like Saturday Swish releases draw bigger crowds regardless.

Just tried a 10/23 can of substance and it was completely different than myself and 2 others remember, was there an issue with the batch? Is substance just inconsistent or changed significantly overtime?

Haven't had Subby in about 6 months, but it was definitely much different than 1-2 years ago and that seems to be the consensus of this thread lately. I personally think it's much worse and that deters me from making trips up to Bissell. Don't get me wrong, I think a ton of their other beers are still awesome, just disappointed in what was a great flagship.

Had Subby on draft yesterday and it was quite good. I do agree that there’s been some inconsistency recently though.

I got a case November 1st. Probably higher limits on weekdays.

I haven't examined every post in this thread but it seems like Swish limits have been raised to a case, no?

Grabbed a 4 pack of The Nuclear Whim last weekend. Did anyone else that tried it get a smokiness on the back end? Wasn't sure if it was an off flavor or something I was picking up from the South African hops?

I'm saying "off" because some Subby's have tasted like this before. I think it's due to lower quality/older hops

My father-in-law brought me a 4pk of Substance at Thanksgiving and it tasted like a shell of itself. Cans were only 7 days old. I know Substance has changed significantly over the last 3-4 years, but this is not the beer i remember, even from 6 months ago. It was almost clear, very bitter and maybe even oxidized? That was just the first can. I'll open another tonight to see if maybe it was just a bad can, but I'm skeptical.

To chime in, Subby goes from being my favorite out of the beers I get from BBB on some occasions, to being "meh" or just ok others. When it comes to comparing it year-over-year, I've had some in the past year that have tasted great/better than Substance I've had two years ago (and vice versa). I've always thought it's been pretty inconsistent.

Didn't notice it on my first can a week ago and probably wrote any flavor off as astringency due to grapefruit bitterness. But I had one tonight and wow I do not like. Cannot comment on whether it is the hops but if it is the hops only then man don't use these again!

The smokiness even comes through on the nose...I am no cicerone, but my uneducated guess is there could be some secondary fermentation with the smoky odor and flavor being some sourness kicking in. Or as mentioned above, some poor quality hops. Based on the release narrative for this year's beer, it mentioned these hops being made available was a surprise drop out of the blue as ABI bought all the SA hop growers and it was assumed no more Fuse. Methinks there was a reason these hops "fell off the truck".

Has there been any updates from Milo? I may have missed them. Anyone seen what they've been working on for the past 6 months?

Milos been open for a while and they've dropped a few beers from up there already. Mostly growler fills and draft I think

Ah, I was hoping I missed the posts about dropping their first beers into barrels or first run on the coolship etc.

I'm pretty sure they were dropping beer into barrels before they were even open. I'm surprised we haven't seen any posts about bottles conditioning or anything.

As swish isn't the tick of the week how are the Swish releases on saturdays? Weather says 20°F this Saturday, will there be a line or could I walk in and get some if I show up at 1 or 2pm?
    Thanks

I made the drive up from RI. I’m heading there around 9-930. Not trying to miss out on it after 3 hours in the car lol
