I'm not going after the full allotment either. I'm likely just targetting:

    Prop
    Vanilla
    Midnight
    Bramble
    Regular
Reserve if I can manage one.

If all goes as planned I should have two of each variant and 4-6 regular, with the exception of reserve, but should manage 1 of those. Gonna skip the wheatwine and cbw. Not sure if that helps. The three I'd target if I could only choose three, though, would be prop, nilla, and midnight. Reserve is likely a pipe dream.

I am truly wondering how hard Reserve will be to get in Chicago. Lots of Binny's that were not LP had limited or no bottles, right? So, it seems possible that LP guaranteeing 1 for each AND that each store will have 6 does not feel to me (necessarily) like it is that much more limited.

Or maybe I am just desperate to think it will be plentiful enough that I could trade for one, as I'd gladly give up an AdF or a few variants from last year for one.

Such is the life of a nerd. Dream on.

That's why I stopped doing reviews. I realized every BA stout description had "bourbon" in it, like that's a single flavor profile.

Goose Island Bourbon County stouts are tasty but their Bourbon County sours are not very good at all. I drinking a 2015 Bourbon County Coffee stout/sour and it’s gonna be a drain pour.

Yes. I hear you can find 2015 BCBS and BCBBW in the salad dressing aisle near the vinaigrettes.

Not yet, usually they make a post sometime a week before they do a release. It's always been at open and has always been a limited amount of variants you can purchase. Generally one of two different variants. I asked for 3 because it's a little more of a rounded number to think about.

I wonder if a lot of the early pretty meh reviews on a lot of the variants will cause people to think twice about going all out on Black Friday.

I'm guessing it won't... but you never know.

I mean, looking at untappd reviews...it doesn't really look like anything except midnight orange would be a sure-fired "meh." Bramble is lower than expected (4.32), but historically it was only 4.55. Vanilla is 4.66, so that is probably a hit. Reserve is up there too. Even Original is 4.5. Wheatwine is a 4.1, but that's to be expected. Even the barleywine last year was only 4.38. That only leaves the coffee Barleywine, which should be similarly as divisive, and is 4.23.

I feel like Bramble is the only one not at the expected rating, although one might argue they are all 0.05-0.10 lower than maybe expected based on history. I don't think anyone expected midnight orange to be awesome.

I am, convinced that prices may play an important role in conjunction with some of these. I expect a lot to pass over Midnight orange, while fewer passover the coffee barleywine. The number that passover the wheatwine is probably directly related to the number of people who like that style and expect to like it.

Since I was lucky enough to attend Prop Day and go to FOBAB, I'm considering skipping Black Friday at LP. I think regular, wheat wine and coffee barleywine will be easy to get, I don't care for Midnight Orange and I already have Prop and Vanilla bottles (from Prop Day). The only bottles I really want are Reserve and Bramble. It doesn't seem worth it to me to wait in line all night when I'm only interested in 2 bottles (not to mention I'll have to buy the full allotment).

I probably shouldn't have said MSRP, but from multiple locations I have seen the prices shown in the picture below (pulled from a seperate post, where someone took this picture in Cincinnati).

Someone did mention in WI and MN that they saw Wheatwine for $16-17, though. So, I somehow doubt that these prices are 100% accurate everywhere. New York also saw higher prices, I think.

What I'm targeting depends on pricing...

Really the only variants I want to load up on are vanilla, and wheat-wine; these were my favorites at prop day. Regular of course I'll stock up on, the others I'm content with 1-2 bottles.

Not bothering with Reserve, just didn't feel it was all that much of an improvement over regular so I'd rather not pay what likely is to be $30. Prop I'm content with the two I have.
Well the only people that have tried the majority of this year's lineup are those whom attended Prop Day, FOBAB, or showed up to the random collaboration events, so a lot of the general public has yet to taste this year's bourbon county offerings. For that reason, no reason not to expect business as usual on Black Friday.

I wouldn't say any of this year's variants are bad, some just disappointing and depending on price points I will pass on. But to be honest, I'm also basing my opinions on 3 oz. pours.

Milwaukee area: $12.99 - $14.99 for Wheat Wine and Coffee Barley Wine, $20.99 - $22.99 for Vanilla, Bramble and Orange. I think $22.99 is a buck high and I haven't seen Reserve pricing.

The initial reviews is what pushed me to sleep in on Black Friday. With all the great BA releases from Revolution, Half Acre and Pipeworks I was already leaning this way but with the initial reviews I think I'll sit out bottles this year and get the 2-3 variants that interest me somewhere on tap downtown where they'll inevitably pop up.

Vanilla being #1 is pretty hilarious to me. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but wow.

I'm not sure why it's hilarious. This is hyperbole to the Nth degree. Aren't you just saying this because you didn't like it and thought it was overly sweet?

I'm guessing your response is going to include either (a) a comment about pastry hype-bois, (b) a comment about pre 15 BW, or both.
