Well I'll be looking forward to trying this! Using bark is a very interesting idea.

    Seems so:
    • "Each brewer donated a different hop flavor to the brew—Mosaic, Idaho 7, Nelson, Amarillo, and Apollo—while their canning, packaging, and distribution partners made in-kind contributions to help lower the cost of production."
...The idea put out by Urban Village, was quickly shot down:
    • "Goldman pitched the idea of making a can-conditioned marzan, but nobody wanted to hear that. Instead, the group decided on 'a potluck-style IPA'"

My question about this place is are the beer any good? They keep posting artistic shots and artsy info building hype but no beer yet. I guess time will tell. Have they done any kegs or anyone try anything from them yet?

Amanda and Sean have a background: history, experience, skillset within the industry. So the following isn’t based off of unknown homebrewers posting hazy pics, but rather known individuals focusing on fermentation and whatnot

There’s also a joint effort in the works: combining the minds from The Seed, Referend, Kelly Green, and Troon

…curious how the Mindful Ales collaboration turned out

    Not a big fan of the name...The Seed....O _o

all snark aside, can you elaborate on their experience in the industry? I get a lot of Suarez vibes from the pics and descriptions . It certainly looks like they know what they're doing; best of luck to them!

Thanks for sharing, did not know, and in this day in age that's why I asked. You never know with social media these days.

    Also curious...

aesthetically they look similar to me. agree to disagree.

Thanks for the info. I really don't like Tuckahoe beer at all but maybe this is the change they need to create something remarkable. Very interesting. Cheers

    Hey Everybody,

My name is Sean and, along with my wife Amanda, we make up The Seed: A Living Beer Project. We very much appreciate the interest and wanted to help shed some light on our project. Amanda and I have been brewing professionally for the last six years or so. Much of that time was spent with Tuckahoe, and while we will be forever thankful for the many opportunities that were presented to us there, we got to the point where it was quite obvious that our philosophies, passion, standards, and focus were on a very much different path than what Tuckahoe was on. We felt that we were a bit handcuffed in what our creative passions and pointed focus needed to be. We love those guys and girls and stay friendly with them, but in order for us to be able to truly explore the type of beer and brewing that we are so enamored by, we needed to create our own project from the ground up.

We settled on a home in Atlantic City that we are working diligently to outfit for our brewery and tasting room. Our demo is nearing completion, and buildout is beginning to get underway. We will not pin down an intended opening date until it is much closer to that time. For now, we are just saying 2019.

While we greatly enjoy drinking hop forward beer, and will certainly always have hop forward beer available, our main focus falls under the broad umbrella of Saison. We are very passionate about yeast and bacteria driven flavors/aromas, the interplay of natural ingredients and fermentation, and local agriculture. We have been fortunate enough to make some wonderful friends within the last several years in this industry that are open to making fun beer that fits our focus while also pushing us outside of our comfort zone, and we will be continuing to make beer collaboratively until our location is open. To date, we have had collaborations available in the tasting rooms of Ludlam, Conclave, and Free Will. We currently have bottles packaged and waiting to mature for release with our friends at Ludlam, Free Will, Troon, Referend, and Kelly Green. We have a couple more collaborative projects lined up through the next few months that we are very much looking forward to as well.

I am not the best at checking BA, but I would be more than happy to chime in when I can and answer any questions! Amanda and I look forward to sharing beer with everyone in the (hopefully) near future!

Congratulations to both of you and best of luck! If you’re half as passionate as you sound then I’m sure you’re going to do great things for the beer scene in Atlantic City and New Jersey in general. I look forward to seeing your products around South Jersey someday. Cheers!

Sean and Amanda are definitely two of the best people in the biz, and Sean is a wizard with yeast, so expect some special things from them when they get open.

Hey folks, we just dropped this bottle yesterday that I am super proud of. Easily the best bottle we've released in 2018. If youre in the area, swing by and say hi.

Did a South Jersey Brewery Tour on Saturday. Hit up Forgotten Boardwalk, Neshaminy Creek (I know, PA), Spellbound, Village Idiot, Third State, and Common Sense. Spellbound was definitely the standout of the breweries that day.

I was pleasantly surprised by Forgotten Boardwalk. I had a nice dopplebock that didn't feel like the 9.9% ABV it was, a really nice coffee porter they call LAST BRUNCH, and a test batch of a very good Hefeweizen. If they were later in the trip, I would have brought home a 4 pack of LAST BRUNCH.
