Lol, calling me out on my bigness and stoutness, eh?

I didn't try Antwerpen, but I am quite curious but haven't researched it much. I don't care for Irish dry stouts, but my understanding is that is not what Antwerpen/the barrel-aged Guinness is (those are sweet) so I'm in for a 4-pack.

And to think I swallowed a joke about the MB liquor store not being relevant to Mr. Moneypants.

I'm SO with you on Somerville. If that was my only option I wouldn't go either. But Burlington, Reading and Waltham are a delight as far as I'm concerned and I have reasons to find myself in the proximity of all three semi-regularly. Burlington is the best because with the large South Asian immigrant population there they actually have a pretty interesting variety of stuff (and H-Mart is right next door for the rest).

Plus you gotta love a company where the non unionized workers rose up to save the CEO and company from the asshole side of the family. They treat their workers well and it shows.

I do like Hannaford's but since they closed the one on Route 1 there isn't really one near me. I don't like Star Market for reasons I can't quite articulate. Stop and Shop (just because of proximity) and Whole Foods get the remainder of our shopping.

If enough people are interested I'll post a picture of my Market Basket tattoo. Demoula's for life yo!

The Antwerpen is completely different than a dry Irish Stout (it’s a foreign export stout), let us know what you think when you pick up the barrel-aged version.

All Star Markets aren’t created equal, the one in Porter is really nice. It’s also really expensive. More expensive than Whole Foods.

You're right that that is a nice one, but I thought I'd spare everyone a rant about my irrationally strong hatred of driving in Cambridge.

And I agree that Antwerpen was really good too. I'll be interested to give the barrel aged a whirl.

I know there are some real butthole-quality Market Baskets out there (looking at you, Lowell) but I've been pretty lucky with the newer ones I've visited including Londonderry, Cape Cod, and my now usual Burlington. Stop and Shop is not a high bar to clear but all of the Stop and Shops that have been local to where I've lived have been undersized, outdated, and criminally in need of a renovation, with nasty produce and out of date meat and dairy. Somehow Market Basket has always been the more upscale of my local options, which is great because the pricing is just so much better. Just really wish the MA stores could sell booze like NH.

We go to the Waltham MB weekly, it's our second store besides Costco and the occassional Whole Foods visit. The MB Waltham has a lot of lactose free stuff, so we tend to go there. Plus our other options are the Waltham Hannifords, which is pretty dark (I mean that literally and figuratively) or driving all the way to Swellsley to the Roche Bros, which is mega-expensive. Although, the Waltham Hannifords does have the best selection of hot peppers I have ever seen (just trying to stay positive). My wife will pick berries from the yard to feed the family before she shops there, though...

There's nothing irrational at all about your hatred. Driving in Somerville/Cambridge sucks.

Based on the general tenor of the BA crowd, we might more easily agree on what are the worst Market Baskets rather than starting from the top!

They used to be great but expansion killed them, now they are a shell of their former self.

I love the Londonderry MB. The lines are long but I get to meet some nice people and chat food while we wait. Share a couple of triple berry canada dry and time flys. Great staff that does great job moving the lines. What a great time to be a supermarket patron .

One time, at the Plaistow MB, the line at the deli was back by the yogurts. I got into it with this nice couple who offered to buy my allotment of roast beef (I swear I didn’t ask, it was unprompted. Nice folks). Cheryl really nailed this batch of Swiss cheese too. Almost like Salem quality.

I do. I was using old brewery line waiting tropes but replacing the brewery with supermarket references.

Spoiler: I imagine mattosgood isn't tracking batches of Swiss either.

Were you pulling Londonderry out of my MB rankings post or is that actually your local MB?

Fuck me guys what are we doing with this thread...
