As far as variants go, the Omaha metro area received Midnight Orange, Wheatwine, Bramble Rye and Vanilla. I was lucky enough to score multiple bottles of each this morning..

    Peace

BCBS prices at the Total Wine in STL (If I remember correctly):
    1) regular Stout $13
    2) Wheatwine and CoffeeBarleywine $16
    3) Midnight Orange $25

Too late for the variants (I arrived 30 mins after they opened, and I wasn't interested anyway), and I choose not to buy any regular BCBS.

Instead I bought Bruery's Bakery and another single of a BBA beer for a little more than the regular BCBS (by $1.50). I am much happier with two BBA beers for close to the price of one BCBS.

One other beer store was offer the following:
    • Stout
    • Bramble Rye Stout
    • Wheatwine
    • Coffee Barleywine Ale
    • Midnight Orange Stout
    • Vanilla Stout
But you had to buy enough Goose Island over the year to get a chance to buy them. I get that, because their allocation is evidently based on how much they sell.

    East Valley of Phoenix here.

I was able to grab Regular, Vanilla, Midnight Orange and Coffee Barleywine at my main shop. Passed on Bramble (Not a popular decision, but just not my thing) and Wheatwine.Made a second stop to grab a second bottle of Vanilla because limit 1 at both places.

From what I saw, Coffee Barleywine was extremely limited out here, shops I watch reported only getting a single case. Vanilla, Wheatwine and Orange seem to be in better supply, but I would be surprised to find them on shelves after the weekend unless shops get most shipments.

That's like ~5 more per bottle than many other places. Total Wine? Total Rip-off is more like it.

    That's absolutely laughable.

Total wine on Naamans rd in Delaware. The cherry hill Jersey store is a bit less. Not really sure how price is set but for a large box type store I would think it should be pretty close if not the same in all. Jersey did not get the wheat, again not sure how distro is set either.

    Enjoy

I didn't run out today to join the lines at bottle shops, I don't follow the masses for the BCBS brews. But I imagine I'll have the occasional variety at the Clybourn brewpub in the next few months.

Lots and lots of cases of variants in DC. On shelves next to BCBS and BW from 2017.

~$30 for the variants in northern California. EASY pass. Crazy how much Goose Island is asking for their regular ($12) spiked with flavor additions in the tank. Oh well!

Do they discount the 2017? It's kinda pointless to keep shelving what's not selling.

Bought one vanilla for $26, still have several regular 17 and 18 as well as barley wine and last yr coffee and north woods. My place sold probably 100 mixed “ ten packs” including all variants except prop. Musta gotta 200 cases in total..

That's not goose island....I've seen pricing from $9 to 15$ for regular. Depends on the place and their mark up

I was just at the store and they had $10.99 regular and $22.99 vanilla. I passed on the vanilla, but it seems like that’s a pretty reasonable price. What’s the justification for the $12 up charge over the regular? I assume all they did was add vanilla beans?

We got variants for the first time; Vanilla, Midnight Orange, Bramble Rye, and Wheatwine. I had Wheatwine on tap this morning, and am having a Bramble Rye now, and I like the Wheatwine slightly more. The Bramble Rye is much better after it warms.

Vanilla beans are expensive. It seems GI spent 500k on vanilla beans for the beer.

Saw the Midnight Orange variant this evening. Passed. Sounds good, but dear lord that's expensive. More per oz. than CBS. Oranges and cocoa nibs don't cost that fucking much.

Would like to try the Wheatwine.

Vanilla bean prices have skyrocketed recently. Between less farms due to historically low prices, higher demand, and a hurricane that ravaged Madagascar that produces the vast majority of vanilla beans, the price has shot up.
