Anyone that cares about life, The Wine Spot still had VSOJ on today, way easier than the shit people are asking for it in trades (and most of them aren't giving them up because they're just waiting it out to see how high it gets, or drinking it). Hope it's still on, but the place was dead when we were there and it's worth whatever kind of drive you have to endure to get a taste, versus trading for it or buying it on secondary.

Easily a top five BW, at least.

Nothing’s worth driving to the east side

lol the Cleveland struggle...if I had to deal with all those traffic lights I'd probably feel the same way. Why don't ya'll do something about that?

I drive 60 miles a day for work, coming up from Akron, and this was basically my same route except I was driving for beer with friends instead of going to work. Major improvement over the normal routine.

It’s not just the lights, it’s the street parking that renders everything a one lane road.

The place you mentioned isn’t bad; right off 271.

Give or take 5 miles...but yeah what tf is up with everyone charging for parking almost everywhere too...like even in lots behind stores?! Don't get me started about the street parking restrictions downtown.

There’s no way it’s 5 miles off 271. Not if the map I looked at is accurate.

I worked downtown for the last 15 years, until recently, and couldn’t be happier not having to drive into that dump every day.

On the way up we took 271 around to 480 and it was 5 miles up Lee from there. On the way back we went East on Cedar to 271 and it wasn't quite 5 but over 4. Both ways was a long ride of stoplights to get back to the highway, actually less time coming off 480 than going North, mainly thanks to all the Legacy Village traffic. Either way, it sucks and really in need of some upgrades.

Good lord, you can get a growler of VSOJ. Like Louie Armstrong sang, what a wonderful world...

Something isn’t lining up on my map, but I will take your word for it.

@Sabtos if you're coming from Akron to go to the Wine Spot you'd be better off taking 271 to Harvard, west (left) on Harvard to Green Road, go north (right) on Green to Shaker Blvd West (left) to Lee Road and right on Lee to the Wine Spot. I live around there and that's kind of the way I'd go (my way would be more difficult to describe plus I'm not sure of the street names).

Just realized I was thinking of City Works, not Wine Spot. My bad, and yea, that’s the area of the east side I want no part of

Speaking of City Works, checked that out on Wednesday for a minute. How quickly did that whole area get built up?! Place seems crazy, lots of cars parked all throughout but very few people in all the places I could see inside of, including City Works. Everything is so large and spacious around there...fancy

I’m glad he had a picture of the tap list because the (most) abbreviation didn’t do anything for me. I have had Straight Jacket several times. A buddy of mine actually had a keg of it. He liked it a lot more than me. Thought it was thin. Looked it up and it is listed as an American style. How is a “Very Old” version of an English style American?

I don't think Revolution labels Straight Jacket as American other than it was made in America. It's definitely in the English vein, and VSOJ is even more so (I think whoever added VSOJ here messed up, I'll report it). It's really damn close to the perfect barleywine IMO, if not outright. Just addressing the feel, the carbonation is just damn perfect, present and soft but not too much, and the body is neither too sticky thick or insubstantial either. The flavor is insanely complex and decadent. I really like Straight Jacket too though, so if that wasn't your bag I wouldn't expect much more from VSOJ.

Straight Jacket is good, but reminds me of Sucaba. Not enough body.

It's an English style. If it's marked differently on here, or on untappd...that's just wrong.

To my understanding VSOJ is Straight Jacket aged for 2 years in the same barrels. Thus "very old." If someone was headed there for a grolwer, I did hear they quit doing those yesterday, but it is still on tap.

Having lived in Coventry and going to John Carroll - if you dont already have a reason to be in the Heights, going to the Heights is the literal worst. They're cant be a more inaccessible place in the 216/330/440 area codes.

That ain't no joke. I complain about the minimal amount of time I have to spend in that area, would hate to live in CLE and have to commute there. But if I'm going to have something as awesome as VSOJ pull me in that way, instead of the other less enjoyable things that usually tend to pull me out there, then I'm going to find a multitude of other things to while I'm there--food, drink, business and park/arts/music related. There's a lot to do to keep you occupied and make max use of your time if one cares to look.
