It will be a lot of fun today but my line season ended yesterday

 

What was it like at opening?

 

Line for the taproom at bottles. I got in line for bottles at 1106 and was out by 1115. Taproom line had all been seated and nobody was standing outside

 

Any guesses as to how long on-site bottles last?

 

Bottles seem to still be flowing. Didnt get an estimate on the number left. Maybe a light wait for a table right now but it's going to start clearing out.

That beer is really quite good. Super sweet as it warmed up.

 

They really were flowing. Left about 30 min ago and they were still handing them out strong.

Not sure when you got your bottle, but they posted at 2:28pm they sold out.

And I agree. It's really good. Glad I was able to try it.

I was there for the minor drama at opening about one or two lines, but in the end it didn't matter. Everyone got what they wanted.

 

Oh thanks for setting the record straight. I got mine around 1:30 or so and enjoyed it over the course of the early afternoon. There were bottles on all the tables so I didn’t realize it was gone. I got a bar seat right away but it was pretty packed. Also, the Barleywine that went in around the same time as Mendhi is still in barrels but not considered ready quite yet

 

I went in around 1:30 with the family for late lunch and had a bottle of BA Mehndi. It’s a really good BA stout, with a lot of similarities to regular BCBS. So, it certainly is delicious. I don’t see it being worth coming in from out of town or anything for...which you could tell there were quite a few people doing.

 

I wish I knew you were there so we could say hello. I liked it more than BCBS but prefer Reserve to it. We both saw the guy with the suitcases but I think your point could be slightly off. Were they in town for Mehndi or in town for Thanksgiving/BCBS Black Friday? Because if the latter, of course we would go to More if we were in that same situation.

 

I do I agree, they were probably in town for Black Friday. I just don’t think it’s worth making a special trip for, that’s all.

And, I really dislike releases done on this holiday weekend. It’s dumn IMO.

 

Yeah I mostly agree about releases this weekend. This one is a bit different with the 1 week pickup window for bottles. But Neapolitan Vlad didn’t sell out and I have no doubt it’s because we were all distracted with other options. I couldn’t believe that BA Hennas were available to go yesterday. Just so much going on

 

Zoinks! I drove pretty much right by there too. I had considered checking out their social media as I knew I would be in the area. Just kinda forgot with all the lines, not sleeping, hemorrhaging money, and whatnot. Oh well.

EDIT: Vlad Neo was released again this weekend? Didn't it just get released a few months ago?

 

Yep it sure was. So I guess we assume they are pretty nimble in terms of choosing which adjuncts to add late in the processs.

More dropped that bomb yesterday and did a silent tapping on Fobab Friday. So basically just go to More on any big occasion in case haha

 

Great experience at More today. Got there a few minutes before open. Got a table no problem. Shared a Mehndi with my friend and had a delicious lunch. Mehndi is a fantastic, straight up BA stout. Great barrel presence - lots of vanilla, oak, char, and chocolate - definitely leans sweet, excellent mouthfeel. I love a stout that strives to feature the barrels it was in, and this definitely does. Picked up my bottle and we were out the door a little after 12 as we wanted to stay ahead of the weather. Service was excellent, prompt, and friendly. Well done today. Place was crowded, with what looked like a short wait for a table, but nothing nuts at all.

Bonus points for the Bell's beer finder app as we pillaged our way down 57 and hit a few places just off the interstate that were listed as having BAE and were outside of Cook. We both scratched together a 4 pack and found some bonus BCBS variants that weren't even marked up. It was a great week for beer here. PSA - there's no BAE left in Monee or Bourbonnais.

 

First trip to More today and thought I would share my experience.

I was lucky enough to win the Mehndi lottery so packed my wife and two elementary aged daughters up and drove down from Grand Rapids for lunch. We got there right around 12:30pm local time and only waited a couple of minutes for a table. We split a bottle of Mehndi onsite and I thought it was a really fantastic beer. The post above this one describes it pretty much exactly like I would so i’m not going to try too hard here. It definitely lived up to my expectations though.

For lunch we all shared the soft pretzel, Nashville hot chicken wings, Poutine and chicken masala. The food was all solid with the wings and masala standing out to me.

Overall, it was a great first trip to More. Great service, food and an absolutely fantastic beer made it all well worth the drive.

Your post seemed well thought out and believable except for this part.

And just so nobody gets too worked up, our service was good yesterday as well.

 

I was worried for a brief moment right at the beginning when all the line bros (yeah, I was one of them today for 10 min, but for good reason) made a mad dash for the bar and taking whatever tables they wanted as soon as they opened the door. The look on some of the waitresses faces was priceless. We waited at the hostess stand to be seated and they seemed thankful and gave us some pretty big smiles.

 

Mehndi was delicious; very cool that More had so many bottles for on-premise consumption. Went great with samosas, wings and curds. Their food game is on point; wife didn't mind one bit being dragged their for her birthday lunch!
