I'm in 40 hour OSHA class for the third time in my life this week. Nothing like spending 40 hours talking about how people get killed at work to lift the spirits...

Anyway, this oatmeal stout is outstanding. Cheers all!

 

The down stair heater has crapped the bed, thermostat & blower seem fine, unit is just not firing up. Thankfully the gas fireplace is cutting the chill ( probably less efficiently ). Texans/Titans. Got the Texans D in FF, so that's my motivator tonight..

Switched over to homebrew. My @Lingenbrau-inspired Huell Melon Pilsener. Holding up well!

 

Miller Lite because it was there.

 

Makes my heart all warm and fuzzy to see folks sharing beers in here. I remember the one time I offered and got scolded by @SomethingClever 's bitter ass.. Cheers!

This will be a high point of his day. - @GreenBayBA the wife made beer/cheese soup for dinner tonight. She used 2 btls of my precious Voodoo Ranger ! It turned out pretty nice !

She had asked earlier for a decent ale. I said I do not buy anything other than that. She then said - Voodoo and I said yes. It was a sacrfice though !

 

Do It!

 

This was awesome! Fantastic head retention/thick lacing. Aromas and flavors of big juicy/lightly tart/tangy blueberries, fruit skin, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, cream, toffee, marshmallow, nuts, and toasted dark/brown bread; with light notes of molasses, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal/grassy/peppery hop, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal, grassy, spicy hop; and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full body; very creamy, silky, bready malts; light sticky hops, chalky roast, and fruit tang in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering hop/char bitter dryness; no cloying, acrid, astringency. Super smooth, minimal warming 8.2%. Awesome balance of authentic blueberries, lactose, cocoa, and rich malt complexity; with solid earthy hop balance. Not overly sweet/heavy from lingering dryness. Another easy winner as expected. I enjoyed the regular ABV blueberry pancake a lot previously. Very similar, but richer and more complex. 4.13


Irish Whiskey BA Irish red ale. This was very nice. Nice head retention/lacing. Aromas and flavors of of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, raisin, plum, fig, peach, pear, red apple, whiskey, toasted oak, biscuit, and brown bread; with light notes of nuts, leather, herbal/grassy hops, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal/grassy hop and whiskey/oak spiciness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium body; creamy, bready malt; light sticky hops and oak tannins in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter/tannic dryness, no cloying. Very drinkable, 6.5%. Great balance of nicely rich malts and fruity yeast complexity; with nice barrel presence/integration. Not a lot, but adequate enough. Well made base style example all around. 3.9
