Unified Beerworks just opened in Malta and the early word seems veeeery positive. Will check it out this week and report back.

I have a couple friends that hit them up last week and they were mildly impressed but by no means blown away.

First update from Collar City Brewing in forever -- looks like things are finally moving forward for them, must have had zoning board issues or something. No timeline but they said plenty more updates to follow.

Checked out Unified Beerworks. Chill space and really enjoyed all their offerings on tap.

I just went on Friday and ditto. The Belgian saison was great and the IPA with El Dorado was absolutely killer. I'll be going back often.

Gonna be a dope spot in the summer, too, with those huge bay doors open.

    Couple updates:

    1) ONCO Fermentations slated to open in Tully within the next few months. Focusing on "classic, experimental and wild/mixed fermentation beers."

    2) Wolf & Warrior is opening next year in White Plains. No info here on who the brewers are, their focus, etc.

    3) Frog Alley in Schenectady seems to be progressing rapidly. Wouldn't be surprised to see an open this month -- December at the latest.

    4) Per the Daily Gazette, there's a second brewery-in-planning in Schenectady but no name or info was given. More when I see something.

    5) No further official info on Back Barn in Duanesburg, but a colleague of mine is working with the owner on financial aspects and said it should be opening this month.

Taproom isn't open yet, but I had one of their beers on Wednesday -- pretty damn nice, balanced IPA.

On another tip, Syracuse FINALLY has a brewery worth traveling to. Buried Acorn. Absolutely beautiful space; big bar, board games (as is required by law), and they've got a few TVs in there too. I know people are split on whether or not TVs belong in taprooms, and while I don't need them, I certainly appreciated watching some football while drinking beer.

And their beers! Really impressive. Had 15+ things on tap and they ran a huge stylistic gamut. There was a stellar Norwegian farmouse and a chinook-heavy pale ale that I could drink for days, and a truly impressive saison with sauv blanc yeast in it. They had 5-6 bottles to go, none more than $12(!!!!) for a 750 and they do growler fills.

The one negative -- especially since they offer so many beers -- is they don't do flights, but I'll live.

It's right off 81 and 690, too, by Destiny USA so it's super easy to get to even if just passing by 'Cuse.

Not sure how I haven't mentioned this but: Mortalis brewing is open in Avon, NY and has been since (I think) mid-summer. Haven't had any of their stuff and haven't talked to anyone who has, but if we're going purely on the looks of the beer and the descriptions, shit seems pretty mouth-watering.

No new information whatsoever. They're canning out of there (any $16 W&G you see, for instance, comes from SCN) but no news on the taproom front. Pretty annoying actually.

Thanks, even though there is no news. I grew up in the neighborhood down the road from the brewery, still have family there and will be up over Christmas. With any luck the taproom will be open before then but, I am not optimistic.

I think we willed this into happening -- this morning the SCN Instagram put up a post saying "we've got some exciting news coming very soon."

Possibly related, my buddy that has done trivia there with Shmaltz for years had his last trivia night last Thursday.

So maybe Christmas isn't a pipe dream after all.

Does anyone have any information regarding these guys? I see their beers pop up on social media from time to time in NYC but wondering if anyone from NJ knew their intentions? Their beers all sound delicious and seem to have some backing from some well-known names?
