$40 for some of those glasses is steep - but I got my Hop Link shirt coming!

    ouch

Pizza Boy Brewing (central PA) does a great coffee stout (Little Amps) in 16 oz cans, 9.5% ABV that they sell in 6 packs with a price point of $16...when they first did it they were $15

They seem like they're still making money

Do they use vanilla? Vanilla beans are outrageously expensive.

I think the cost of vanilla is what makes the cost so high. I gasped at first when I read the price but then after thinking about it the way they worded it could have been done better. If they had stated $7/can instead of $28/4pk and then sold them as individual cans then the price would have been much more accepted and also the release could have spread to more people. I believe Aslin stouts are typically $8/can and think Triple Crossing has done some of their canned stouts at this price too. 600 cans (100 cases) in 4pk only covered 150 people. I'm not sure when the last pack was sold but think they sold through everything within a few hours. Being their first 16oz can release I give them a pass and know they will make adjustments next time and possibly do individual cans at 2pp or 4pp limit.

the regular PB Sunny Side Up Little Amps does not use vanilla

It uses coffee beans from a local coffee shop which is not extremely expensive...but not cheap at the same time

their variants with added adjuncts cost more but are still a much better value

I have idea the cost of vanilla beans but I'm certain they're gauging

I had a crowler of Joose which cost $20+, it was good, but nothing I would buy again at that price...I thought it was really overrated especially for the cost...I would say I've had things along the lines that I liked much better for a better value like Burley Oak JREAM beers

I used to agree with this, but now that Answer is doing Imperial and Triple versions of Joose I'm a fan. It helps balance out all the sweetness and gives it a different weight. Plus if I'm splitting a 1,000 calorie crowler (guessing) I'd at least like it to have more than 3.5% abv. I think it's worth giving those another shot is all!

    ^yea, I think mine was 3.5% ABV :slight_frown:

what's the price point on imperial and triple crowlers?

I believe exactly the same price - also part of why I prefer them. I feel like I can more easily justify spending $20 on something at 9% abv than 3.5%. I still get these aren't for everyone but both my wife and I prefer the imperial/triple joose.

If anyone is going to be around Brooklyn / Flushing and/or NYC this weekend The Answer will be pouring tomorrow at Five Boroughs Brewing for Juicy Brews, have a couple taps going at Mikkeller NYC and then several taps along with some of The Answer folks at As Is NYC on Sunday at 3pm.

Such a good point here. Another brewery released four-pack of BA stout cans for a similar price point and I laughed it off, but I happily spent $7/can and got two. Funny how things work like that, but I think individually pricing high ABV or adjunct stouts is the way to go.

So I guess this is just the price of their stouts. Steep precedent for sure, but I agree with Mike, individual pricing would make a difference for me.

Also, are these adjunct stouts significantly less sweet than the andalls? Maybe it’s just me, but the last few andall stouts I’ve had have been even sweeter than I remember. Any of them without coffee are hard for me to drink. I’ve got no issues drinking the Joose though. That strawberry coconut is ridiculous.

An responded to a question about can cost and his response was "22ish"

I said the same thing about Trombone Adam counts but again. I really think they should sell them as individual cans with a 4pp limit instead of 4pk @ 1pp. I would much rather have the option to purchase singles can at $5.50 - $6.00 each with the option of maxing at 4 than having to purchase the full 4pk. Not sure the total count but if it's similar to Trombone (600 cans) they won't have a problem selling out in no time. The singles option may allow cans to stretch out to a few more people be sell out.

For those in RVA today, Knuckles glass going on sale at 4:20 TODAY.

Not confirmed but for those non-locals I would not be surprised to see this glass available online part of the BND 10am drop tomorrow (Friday).
