Made my first visit to this brewery this evening. Very impressive. Just a relaxed vibe all around. The beer is great as well. It's like Suarez meets Jack's Abby.

Teenage Riot is fantastic. I also loved the Zwickel and Psychocandy stout. Can't wait to try The Standard.

I grabbed a 4 pack of The Standard at One Stop in Haverhill last Wed. Killer pils. One of my new favorites.

I've got an eye out for the Standard, which I've never tried, but really if I had regular access to the Zwickel I'd keep it on hand all the time as a utility beer.

Thanks! I picked up mine last night. Although, with fresh cans of Von Lüne Pilsner in the cooler is was a tough cal!

I have an oddly strong preference for German vs. Czech pils but the Standard is indeed delicious. I'll definitely buy it again if the opportunity arises.

    Great can art too.

I wouldn't say it's odd. In fact I think many people lean that way.

A German Pils is drier and lighter bodied, making it more drinkable for some. And despite the fact the IBUs can be lower than in a Czech Pils, the hop perception is stronger in a German Pils due to those characteristics in my opinion.

The Standard however is in a completely different league for my palate than any other US brewed Czech Pils I've had, and probably any other Pils period.

Most US brewed Czech Pils lean towards having more German characteristics anyways in my opinion, but that's a story for another day.

We only brewed a limited amount for distro, but will release it again in February. We do have Cerne Pivo (Black Lager) being canned on Monday, and then the first Voll Projekt canned beer in January - Helles Spezial. Both for distro and tap room sales.

Goddammit, you guys are getting so much of money these days. I bought more of the Standard than I have of any single beer in awhile. Sounds like this trend will keep going.

Is Cerne Pivo now 4.5%? I thought it was 4% before?

It was originally a 10P beer, but when we brought it to Salem we raised it to 12P (also moved to double decoction). It just worked better as a 12P beer.

    Sold.

Although a few years ago it was on cask at Row 34 and I think I had 3 imperial pints of it without being leg less. Beer of the year for me that year. Had the mouthfeel of a Guinness without the muted flavor profile.

Well, Schnitt flights, so not exactly the same thing. 8 oz. tasters are quite the tasters.

Also, I was able to order a flight at a local brew pub in Darmstadt, Germany this year. I posted about it here and came to find out that apparently flights originated over there (no source for this info though).

So maybe it's not quite as "American craft" as we think.

Also a fun fact, there's a "Märzen" on that flight...in January. :astonished:

Because over there, that's a strength designation, not necessarily a style.

Among my favorite dorky banters with bartenders:
me: can I try the Pilsner?
Barkeep: Sorry, we don't do tastings.
me: I know, by try I meant a pint...

I generally only revert to a true tastings (when available) when I'm pretty sure the beer is going to be crappy and at least I don't have to commit to a full pour of crappy beer.

Does anyone know if there’s Cerne Pivo cans available at the brewery? Any other cans?

There's been a stack on the floor at Vinnin which isn't far away, but it's probably nutty today.

    Ah thanks.

I'm Ubering to the brewery today, so it's more convenient to just pick some up there if they still have it.
