Founders Backwoods Bastard (2012)

Props to the experienced drinkers being able to get distinguishing flavors out of this stuff. As my first BBA beer, all I got out of this was bourbon and more bourbon!

 

Bourbon County Stout. I wouldn't recommend it lol!

Its apparently terrible that I get little bourbon notes out of this beer, just some light vanilla and loads of chewy english toffee. Heres to drinking bourbon straight for the last two years!

 

My local heinen's in cleveland got in two cases.

 

I got them the middle of that week (Wed?). I don't know how much they had but I got my 2 bottle limit.

 

As of yesterday (Thur PM) try Schaefer's they have some with a 2 bottle limit. Talk to Eli

 

I'd call them but it is probably all gone now. They usually disappoint me because they're so unorganized with their orders. They never seem to know when anything is coming in. I think part of that is the distributor but it's partly them too.

 

I picked up a couple 4 packs here by work, but you are right, they are unorganized, if you are on top of it, they will order what you ask for as long as it's before the release. I think it's mostly them and partly the distributor, The distributor never has problems getting these beers up the 75 corridor.

 

Picked up a case last night, i got a 4-pack chilled then cracked open a bottle, took a few sips, fell asleep on couch, woke up and realized i spilt 3/4 of the glass on carpet, had to scrub backwoods bastard out of my carpet at 3 a.m

 

LIGHTWEIGHT!

 

The same thing happened for me with my first barrel aged beer. Keep trying them every so often, you may come to like them. I was totally overwhelmed at first and thought they were too sweet and vanilla heavy, but over the last few months my palate has changed quite a bit and now I'll grab anything from a barrel that I can!

 

What are people paying for Backwoods? Bought a 4 pack on Monday for 17.99. Went into a store today and they wanted 7.99 per bottle-needless to say I walked out happy I had some at 17.99 versus 32.00.

 

That's insane - especially since you're in Michigan...

I paid $15 in Ohio.

 

It's $15.49-15.99 in CT and $16.99 in NY by me and we're usually on the higher end for pricing. $7.99 for a single is ridiculous, the one by me that was selling singles had them for $4.49 I believe.

 

Picked up a case today in PA for 80 (after tax)

 

Always $14 in MI that I've seen.

 

Where? I saw Holiday had it for that, Champanes had a 2 bottle limit, so i was happy to layout the few extra dollars to save myself a trip and get a 4 pack.

 

I think I got it for $11.99 yesterday.

 

12.99 here. Bought a case and got 10% discount, making it about 11.70 a 4pack. It's definitely one of the better deals out there for a well done BBA beer.

 

Where did you find a case in PA? Been looking all over...

 

Had Wexford Beer order it for me. Distributor only let her order 2 cases. 1 still may be there, it was there as of Friday afternoon
