I think it's absolutely stupid and only helps to justify a $100+ price tag. That's some Toppling Goliath hype beast bullshit.

Prove me wrong, Great Notion. Prove me wrong.

I'm hoping they'll have it on tap for a while, as I have no interest in taking part in what I'm sure will be an absolute shit storm to obtain. The packaging reeks of " high price, very limited supply." I can only imagine what it will go for on the trading forums and secondary markets.

Given GN's track record when it comes to pricing, I'd be shocked if these boxes sold for less than a C note.

I'd say it's only over-the-top if that's the only way to purchase that beer.

    Snazzy artwork, I gotta say.

I'm sure it will be the only way to acquire a bottle. Draft only on site hopefully is more plentiful, but guessing still limited.

Agreed on price. Dig the glass. It’s gonna sell out. Fast.

But it also comes with a box to bury your dignity in!
Jokes aside, the packaging looks great. I don't care for the labels, but it reminds me of some of the special edition boxsets bands put out. Whether a beer needs that treatment is a separate question, though

I'll be coming up to PDX this weekend and have a couple questions pertaining to Great Notion:
    1) What are the typical limits for can purchases on Saturday? I'm assuming it varies by beer but is there a range they generally fall into?
    2) It sounds like there will be a Highland Park event at the brewpub on Thursday - when they have guest tap events, do they take house beers off or do they have extra taps to put the guest beers on? Planning on hitting GN on Thursday afternoon and while I love HPB, I was mostly hoping to try GN beers since we rarely see them in San Diego.

I haven't ever been to a tap takeover, but I don't think they really have any way to add any extra tap handles. So I would expect that they'll likely take some of their normal house beers off line, along with whatever current guest taps are pouring (they usually have a couple of guests taps pouring). Might be worthwhile to give them a call if there's a particular beer you're interested in trying.

Of late it seems like they've been allowing up to a case purchase on Saturdays. Early on it was not unusual to see a couple of 4 pack purchase limit, but now that the production brewery seems to be fully up and running, I've not been seeing that any more. In some instances of late, I think they've completely eliminated the purchase limit restriction.

Ever since I heard that barrel aged Double Stack was coming I was quite confident that GN would find the absolute dumbest way possible to get that beer into the hands of their customers. I'm holding out hope that this isn't the only format they will be offering.

Where did you see the $100 price point? I don't doubt you but can't find it anywhere.

I've heard others mention a $100 price point as well (not just here on BA). I wonder if that was included in the Instagram story that they have since removed (if you go to their instagram now there is no mention of this at all, which is strange). I'm going to pass regardless of price point. I have way too many nice boxes as it is.

Instagram stories tend to be a time-limited thing. They're not permanent like posts.

I hope there's some BA Double Stack on draft because there's no way I need any of the nonsense associated with that boxed set.

Well that makes sense. I'm obviously not an avid user.

I too hope they reserve the bulk of this beer for draft and that it will be available for some time at the brewery. I guess we'll see once they decide to fill us in on the details as opposed to teasing the hypsters with temporary information.

It’s nice to hope for things but I’m guessing they’ll maximize bottle sale profits on this one. Sounds like a small yield and it was expensive to make.
