Going to the Bruins game tonight and wondering what restaurants/bars within walking distance have a good taplist. Cheers, Dave
Ward 8 and Tavern on the Square probably the best bets for walking. Merchant is great but that's a 20+ minute walk.
Tavern In The Square is a shitshow before/after garden events.. not worth the hassle unless you really like waiting in lines. Maybe if you got there 2+ hours early you’d get a table..
The BA crowd pans it, but I’m usually satisfied with visits pre & post-game to Beer Works. Not every beer’s a winner every time, but with enough selection there’s bound to be something you like (lagers & Contender IPA are usually solid). Been a long time fan of Porter’s as well. Not an extensive beer geek selection, but I find the service & food good.
Also one of the most expensive taprooms in the city. Take a peek @ the menu & prices before heading there. Oof. http://thetiptaproom.com/taps/
If I'm going to a game, I couldn't care less about finding a "good beer" before, during, or after. I feel like I'm the only person on this site who feels this way sometimes. There are so many of these types of posts/questions. Happy to have a few Miller Lites while I watch any of my teams. To answer your question, though: I remember having Cambridge Brewing's saison in North Station before Disney on Ice.
I'll second Porter's - solid pub food and reasonabley priced. Had BCBS, Fiddlehead IPA, and Stoneface Blip on tap last Friday. Tip Tap Room has great food and an interesting tap list, but the prices are outrageous.
I agree with you somewhat, but only stoop as low as a Harpoon or something. And that's barely stooping. There are no scenarios where I enjoy drinking Miller or Bud Lite. But I'm certainly not going to go out of my way to get some top shelf craft.
