    OK, that's a good one

I don't "dislike" booziness, I like it just fine. I just prefer to be able to taste the flavors of the beer more without the burn, and I have one bottle of this, so I'm going to try to drink it when I would enjoy it most.

Did you try it on tap or ask for a pour when you picked up your bottle? That would have given you a good idea if you wanted to sit on your bottle or drink it soon, instead of relying on other people's opinion or palate's that may be totally opposite of yours.

Sound advice in general but not an option with this beer -- there were no draft pours at More. Best one could do was get there on release weekend to try a bottle on-site for 35 bucks, and even then there were a limited number of bottles available per day. (Though AFAIK Sunday didn't "sell out" and they offered on-premise bottles for another day or two.)

Or you could be that one guy who was given an unopened bottle (or possibly recapped it) and posted pics of it in his car on Facebook. (On-premise bottles weren't waxed; raffle winner bottles were.) Then you could pop one at home immediately and cellar the other if you thought it would age for the better.

Ah that's right it wasnt on tap just onsite bottles that weekend and I believe you are correct on people getting onsite bottles a couple of days after.

I really wish I could have. I'm not here trying to waste anyone's time. Probably want to make sure you know what's up before you start being a smart***. Just good life advice.

I'm not trying to be a smart***. I also dont enter a beer lottery of a beer I'm not sure I'm going to like and then come on here and ask others what I should do with it instead of making my own decision... you know just good life advice.

I didn't enter a beer lottery for something I'm not sure I'm going to like. I know I'm going to like it. I want to try to drink it at the time when I would like it most. Not sure why this is difficult to understand.

I don't have any other information about that than what I can get here because they didn't have the beer on draft. I wanted to know if it was drinking hot right now or not. Please tell me - how else am I supposed to get this information other than asking people?

https://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/49747/377147/ has a few nice, in depth reviews as does untappd and I'm sure there are some FB pages out there too. Between the lotto winners, the people who had it onsite and those that tried it at FOBAB (although probably not the best environment to judge quality) you should be able to find some good reviews online. I'm going through the same debate as you: drink now vs. later and based on everything I'm reading my plan is to slowly sip on mind on Christmas Eve staring at our Christmas tree after the kids fall asleep.

Reviews are a good source of information, and there are some good ones for Mehndi, but they don't necessarily provide the exact information I was looking for (if I prefer less bourbon heat, should I wait to drink this). This is a place full of knowledgeable people, many of whom have probably had this beer, I figured this was the best place to go to get good, specific information.

    I like your plan though!

@miniditka77 I'm not trying to turn this into an argument, I will just say that no one knows how you like to drink your BA Stouts except you and who knows if it will mellow in 3,6 or 9 months or even fall off after 2. Ardea Insignis was hot fresh it was hot after 6 months and still pretty boozy after almost a year old.Ask 10 different people and get 10 different answers and in the end you will still be in the position of making your own decision and drink it when you feel you will like it. Enjoy your Mehndi Sir.

While I agree that this is a good place to ask people for their opinions on a beer, I also agree with all this. If you go over to the BCBS thread, you'll see basically 50 different opinions on every variant, with completely opposite statements being made about many.

    "It's too hot"
"I didn't get almost any burn"
    "It's too sweet"
"I thought it was actually bitter"
    "It's a vanilla bomb"
"I wish it was more vanilla-forward"

This is as good a place as any to ask this sort of stuff, but time and time again, I find that unsurprisingly, my own opinion is the only one that I consistently see eye-to-eye with on beer.

I understand, but I just wanted to make the most informed decision I can, and I clarified exactly what information I was looking for. The two people who responded substantively gave me pretty consistent and useful information. Maybe I'll open it in 6 months and it will still be hot, I don't know. I just know if I open it now, it will be, and that's thanks to the information people here gave me.

Lines will be interesting on a Saturday to see if the sellouts happen faster. They haven’t actually done a Raspberry only Frooted yet and it’s been a while since the beer came out

I’m assuming it’s just for frooted, and that the IPA is available?
