Ridgewood got at least a case ... saw a few bottles on the shelves there yesterday. Have heard horribly conflicting reports on this beer. Two said great, one said awful.

Both reports on this beer are greatly exaggerated. :astonished:

Audra from M.E. brought 1 up with her to Mekong friday and opened it with us.
good, but for some reason I was expecting some tartness to it that wasn't present.

Interesting but too sweet for me. Where's that sourness they mention on the label? The chard barrel saves it or else this would taste just like the nectar of canned peaches. This is a miss. Paid $17.99. Like all their beers - overpriced.

I saw that the 3rd release is aged with figs and raisins in apple brandy barrels. Drool.

The third edition in Mother Earth Brewing’s (Kinston, NC) Windowpanes Series is about ready for the big time. Panes is a series of North Carolina inspired beers that contain fruit rom the states farms, then aged in pinor noir, chardonnay, or brandy barrels. The total production per release is limited to just 20 barrels. (620 gallons.) Blackberries was the featured fruit in release #1. Peaches (currently available) is release #2. Coming soon is Figs & Raisins.
The base beer for this release is a Belgian-style dubbel, fermented with local figs and raisins, then aged in North Carolina Brandy Barrels.
Style: Dubbel (w/ Figs, Raisins, Barrel Aged. Brandy)
Availability: 750 bottles, Corked & Caged
    Arrival: TBA

I thought it was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. I wish there was some tart/sourness to balance out all the sweetness. My husband liked it a lot more than I did for what it's worth. The price is way too high IMO.

Ridgewood had some on their shelves this past Wed.

If the price is too high at Ridgewood, then the price is too damn high.
