Yeah...there is just too much going on with that beer.

Basically what I said when referencing that these are new beers they've made. One of which has new ingredients that haven't used before (orange zest). Mike Siegel talks all about it in this ABV Chicago Podcast episode: http://www.abvchicago.com/episode-251-bcbs-2018-with-mike-siegel/

Oh, a bunch of people have been reporting that it is getting much better as the heat dies. But maybe that is bottle only!

I've never had it on draft, but last year and this year I had it from the bottle at the taproom and it was absolutely delicious. Tons of chocolate, little bit of heat.

Prop 16 on tap...no good. Prop 16 from bottle...no good. Nothing else to see here.

At this point the only thing I'm keeping an eye out for is Reserve. I've had enough of the variants, especially given the pricing on most.

This stuff is so ubiquitous this year I won't be surprised if they announced subsequent drops well into summer...

It's kinda funny people just waiting on Prop & Reserve...you know that's what most of the other beer nerds are doing as well, right? So, odds are that when if/when it hits, you still won't be able to get it.

Well, what choice do I have? Those are the 2 variants I don't have. It's not like I think I'm being clever; I just don't need more BCBS. I'd be fine with Prop or Reserve on tap, too.

For what it's worth, it's much easier (for me) to get random drops than it is to get allocations at a release. I'm not willing to stand in line for hours, but I can usually get to the local beer places pretty quick if something randomly appears. It's what I've done for almost every major release I've had success with (outside of the Rev ones). Not saying it always works, but it's a good fall-back option.

You should've gotten to Binny's LP pretty quick on Black Friday morning. Allocations were available past open, and you'd have 1 Reserve and 2 Prop. Obviously that doesn't work if you were out of town or something, though.

I don't love waiting in line, but I also like to lock down getting the beers I want and not have to wait/hope for more distribution and then hope I can make it to a particular store in time.

I was in Wisconsin, or I'd have been at LP at open; it was my plan until we decided to leave town Thursday night. I'm not trying to make it sound like I'm entitled to the beers, just saying that for the places I made it to (Lakeview WF right before open, Jewel on Sunday after Black Friday), I had no chances. I'm not hunting them that aggressively, I'd just like to try them if possible.

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Midnight Orange ends up being my favorite.

If you're not willing to line up, your best bet for Prop/Reserve would've been some of the stores that do raffles for bottles. It's a crap shoot, but at least there was a chance.

I prefer to just hope--hope there's a second drop, and if not, hope that some place like Fulton puts 'em on tap.

(I also have way more BA shit this year than I need--I'm not exactly struggling)

Prop will definitely go on tap, and not just at Fulton or Clybourn. It's been on at multiple places in the past few weeks. Reserve is a different story...I'm wondering if Goose is keeping that to themselves for the most part. I'm sure it'll pop up at a place or two besides Fulton or Clybourn, but trading some of that other BA stuff you have may be the easier way to get that.

In the interests of hype gauging, it took one hour on social media, on top of the people already in the shop, for one case of vanilla to sell out.

Honestly, I want to try Reserve out of curiosity (since people have built it up), but I doubt I'll care about it that much.

I'd need another pour of Reserve to know for sure, but after regular/reserve, Midnight Orange is my fave.
