On the bright side, they had some really nice consolation prizes on the shelf. Abraxas, Origin of Darkness, Neckbeard Nectar, etc. It's a hell of a time to be alive and drinking stouts.

They actually said Prop went out within minutes, almost everything was gone in 40 minutes. I passed on WW.

FYI, Beer on Central put up their raffle leftovers late yesterday....not sure if there’s anything left and note it says 1-pp, but if you’re in the area...

Can’t post the FB pic, but looks like all but Prop/Reserve/WW.

So it looks like this Second Drop is real for sure; have people seen other places in the city getting it?

Seen a couple places in the burbs. Gonna stop at a couple Binny's on my way home from work in a few and I'll update if they got a drop.

Nothing at either one yet but they said it's supposed to drop in the next couple days. My one guy said 15 cases of regular and a couple cases of variants but he doesn't know which ones yet. Won't know till it shows up.

Not bcbs related but thought this was funny:

That was pretty funny. I really hope they do something like that periodically. God knows they probably have a ton of content. Other breweries should jump on this too. Could you imagine the Side project or TG tweets...

BCS related ones would slay on here. Glad they have enough humor and self awareness to do these.

We wrote a lot of haikus a ways back. Someone submit one of those.

So, I was talking to @flat_lander last night, and talking about the Vanilla.

Personally, I think the best way to describe the flavor is that the flavor is the same to me as the smell of raw vanilla beans. (That is, if you take one, split it, and smell. That's the flavor I get.)

It's not my favorite of all time. I don't get cloying, I don't get overpowering, but it's not "creamy" in the way that you get vanilla in vanilla buttercream, for example. I'm curious to see what happens over time.

Vanilla Deth > Vanilla BCBS now
I think aged Vanilla BCBS will be > aged Vanilla Deth. How much age, IDK?

I only drank half my bottle last night. Drinking the other half right now. Straight out of the cold fridge, this seems to have more vanilla at the same temp than fresh. That said, the Vanilla is much less the "Fresh/Raw astringent" vanilla and more of the "Creamy vanilla" that I was lacking yesterday.

I'm starting to get excited for aged BCBVS to be honest.

Everything except Reserve is on tap (plus Reseve bottles) at Dark Horse in Wrigleyville. Not crowded at all.

What are they charging for the Reserve bottles? Was considering stopping at 6 but assumed the bottles would be gone immediately...

I'm going to break with protocol and save both my Vanilla for at least a year or until peoples' reviews calm down a bit. I know I'm breaking craft beer law by not drinkimg one fresh but they're my beers and I'll do what I god damn well want with them. Lol. Same with my Bramble. I got Vanilla Deth and Deth by Currants that taste perfect right now to tide me over while the experiment is going down in the basement laboratory.

But how did you find out that Vanilla Deth and Deth by Currants are tasting perfect to you right now? By drinking them.

Yeah, @Beer_Economicus take on BCBVS is pretty spot on for my experience with the, "inhaling a cut open raw vanilla bean" comparison. Was almost abrasive for me.

No judgement here. I was pretty transparent about my feelings about BCBVS and I ended up trading for 2 more hoping it ages well. Something I've never done or even considered (i.e. trading for a beer I didn't absolutely love). I don't even know what the hell I'm doing with my life anymore...

Speaking of, my group of friends are getting together this weekend for our annual Bourbon County death match. One of the things on the docket is the MO + BCBVS combo. Anyone have the recommended ratio for concocting this Frakenbeer?

I tried a few different ratios and the standout was definitely 25% MO to 75% Vanilla. Any more MO than that and the orange drowned out the vanilla.

I did a washed glass with vanilla and the rest MO and it was actually perfect - great vanilla nose and background hint, but mostly MO. Perfect while cold (~40 degrees), but gets worse as it warms up (contrary to how a good BA stout should work, I know...). I say this as someone who thinks MO is great.

Worth trying since you essentially fill the glass with vanilla and then move it to another glass for your 25/75 combo. Basically no waste.
