Only beers I get to keep for myself are the IPAs....

Yeah. I've seen Chi-Lake price bottles at a 30-40% markup in comparison to other places. That's not to say they don't screw up pricing the other way too, like the $3 four-pack of Rubaeus. It's the reason I still pop in when I'm in the area. I imagine someone in the backroom getting sloshed on Old Crow, drunk-inputting the prices and allowing me to play "Guess That Mistake".

This is a random question (and sorry if it's been answered before) but is BA Darkness available on shelves anywhere in Minneapolis? I'm landing there on Friday and was hoping to find some.

Nope, it hasn't been released yet. I wanna say February, but I'm not sure.

The BA version of this year's Darkness hasn't been released yet but past year's BA Darkness is almost certainly available. It isn't everywhere but I bet you could find it if you ask around. I saw someone mention that Elevated has it as of a few days ago.

I can't spend $100 on a beer run anymore. Back before I was married and had kids I could spend (blow) $100 and not care. A lot of craft beer seems to be aiming at guys in their 20's with lots of disposable income that will spend $20+ on a bomber or on a 4 pack of the latest/greatest slightly different IPA/sour/BA beer. I'm sure I miss some great beers from Junkyard, The Brewing Projekt, Drekker etc. but these prices are out of control.

I'm very happy drinking the latest Schell's or Summit seasonal and special releases and saving a lot of money.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying. For me kids prevent me from going to the bars as often I would when in my 20s so I'm comfortable spending more at the liquor store. Never pass up a good schells 12pk though. Snowstorm this year is great as always.

I mostly buy singles, but I took a chance on a six-pack of Schell's Snowstorm 2018/19 Speciale Belge. I lucked out. It's probably the best Schell's beer I've ever had and one of the best American versions of a Belgian Ale I've ever had despite coming from a brewery famous for its German roots. And it was $8.99 for six 12-ounce bottles. (It rates at only a 3.76 here as of this writing; philistines!)

Agree with your sentiments. For me beer nirvana is a 12 pack of Pilsner Urquell. Paid way too much for mediocre to bad beer over the past few years.

May be the wrong forum, but I couldn't find anything on Forager. They are doing a stout release this Friday at 10am, can anyone provide input on how crazy it gets and if bottles last past opening? Flying in for the weekend but I can't get there until close to noon, but I'm assuming they'll be sold out. Hoping that it being a Friday morning will slow it down.

I think at past releases if you were there at open, you typically would get something. I know they have allowed people to go through the line multiple times until it is sold out before. I guess I wouldn’t bet on it making it til noon.

Now that you've spilled the beans to another 100+ people on this thread there's little chance you will land a bottle. Kidding of course, but the campers/line-lappers will clear it out well before you arrive.

The bottle limit is still TBD from what I've heard. Even at 1 pp it will be gone in the first 30-40 minutes or however long it takes them to checkout/process the hundreds that camped or arrived hours ahead of opening. I haven't seen a taplist or crowler list yet, but there's usually some unique tasty stuff on release days. You should have no problem getting a pour of most things at noon and probably still have a couple crowler options.

Awesome, I'll keep an eye out for the tap/crowler list to see if it's worth swinging down. Thanks!

This. Even as crazy as the Nillerzzz release was, the line at open was such that people there early picked up a second bottle looping through the line. More bottles than people.

I would bet that getting there by open would guarantee a bottle, mostly because it's a Friday morning, & as crazy as many of us are, a certain percentage just aren't going to take a day off work for the latest pastry stout. But agree, by noon, the 'loopers will have wiped out the stash.

Confirmed about Elevated having it as of last Friday afternoon. Wanna say ballpark $26 but I didn't look that close.

I think Top Ten SLP had it, too, but I also think I saw $35 on it.

Never had anything by Junkyard yet. See they’re dropping off stuff in the area Fri. Super Slurp Mango Pineapple Sour and Slurry Hazy DIPA intrigue me. Good stuff?

Surdyks had some Handshake left today. Other than Zipps I think they were the only ones to get it in MPLS. Not worth the $18.99 though. They also had about 4 bottles of Darkness, DSDB(boxes), belching beaver beers(peanut butter, blonde and a mosaic IPA) and that about it.

    Run when you wake up
