Point is, 99.999% of anyone that has ever owned a VR had a way easier time getting Vanilla this year than they likely had getting VR, thus the likelihood of a VR owner wanting to trade their VR for Vanilla is exceedingly low.

 

As of last month Vanilla Rye is still tasting pretty good. It'd be hard to pull mine away for less than 5-6 '18's. Then again, I also drain poured the second half of the '18 bottle.

 

Interested in acquiring a Backyard Rye.
Would a combination of 1x BCS Vanilla, 1x 18 Prop, 1x Coconut Jones Dog + something else (17 BCS Reserve) be in the vicinity? Searching the completed trades yields nothing.

 

So I’m searching for my white whale, SR-71 b1. Had one and traded it before it blew up. I have the following to trade plus any future 3 Sons and/or Barclay Brewing bottles.

Assassin 18

I am looking for some feedback. Am I off? Is it a Venn issue? Are SR b1 being traded, or only sold? Genuinely curious.

Why are you saying what you are saying? You need to explain, and it needs to be value based from the market and not just how "you feel."

 

Proper dose should be around 1:1 with FO b4. I've had very little sleep so I apologize for my unhelpful comment

 

Like most big bottles....people want to go bigger. And in this case it's just so rare

And tbh I feel like most are just sold

 

Yeah all that Horus stuff isn't even aged yet not sure why it keeps pulling other higher tier (IMO) bottles...

I don't see why KBBS isn't 1:1 with SR71, except possible venn diagram.

BBT+MD is probably a good start too, but you might have to add a 3 Sons or two.

 

Appreciate the feedback and although I agree I think it might be hard to pull one with just an FO. Sounds like maybe asking for a big plus is in order on the Dose side.

 

I think the very limited nature of SR-71 b1 has a lot to do with it. Combine that with reputation and the dreaded secondary value, and that's probably why those don't go 1:1.

Cuts are usually in the $36 a bottle neighborhood. I'm not a secondary guy so can't help ya on that part.

 

I would say yes that the proper dose needs a plus. Yes proper dose isn't ba but neither is Coco vibes, morning delight, double stack and yet people ask alot for these. Everyone that I know that has had proper dose says its really good and it is imo. I personally traded proper dose and 2 pm PB for vanilla and coffee abraxas. Proper dose isn't trading that high but I'd say go for it if that's what you want, with a plus on his side. Btw on the Horus I've tried has been spot on,( pastry method, goshawk grasp, proper dose) and if I could trade and fob4 for proper dose I'd do it twice.

 

I fail to see a clearly measurable difference in scarcity or secondary market value between KBBS and SR71. Especially considering SR71 is simply older Assassin--but disregarding that, they seem to be fairly equal, whether that's deserved or not.

 

There’s a significant difference in secondary market between the two, SR-71 b1 and KBBS b3 (with KBBS b4, not sure). Without using actual dollars, we’re talking VR unit+ based on latest transactions. As far as scarcity, I think if you look at how many times you see a KBBS offered for trade versus an SR-71, the impression would be that SR-71 b1 is a total ghost. SR-71 b2 is right on par with KBBS b3.

As far as SR-71 being a longer aged Assassin (SR-71 b1 being aged a year longer in Pappy Van Winkle 23 year barrels... so Assassin ‘14 aged longer) and how much that should matter, I agree and I think it’s moot to discuss since that’s purely opinion and subjective based argument.

 

Literally, and verifiably, there is not. At least using all of the records available on the internet.

 

Numbers are numbers, but maybe VR+ isn’t a significant difference to rich folks like you.

Same here, my man. I guess we will ultimately see if the trade can close with trader who inquired about what it will take to land SR-71 b1. He’s a buddy so for personal reasons I’m certainly hoping he does close it 1:1.
