Cracked my only bottle of Double Drupe tonight. Disgusting and infected. Glad I held onto it for a few months.

It was fantastic fresh, by infected do you mean like acetic acid off flavors?

Shit. I still have mine too. Didn’t wanna try to finish a bottle solo, so I hung on to it until I could share.

Guess I should crack it just to see if it escaped the infection.

Velvet Magnum 2.0 tastes like a self-actualized version of Mexican Cake/Hunahpu.

    Pastry boi certified.

For about two years I was cellaring almost every stout I could get at least two bottles of. Honestly, there wasn't one among the batch (which ranged from your BCBS's, Double Negatives, BQE's, some Stone Brewing and others) that really benefited enough that I'd have done it again. And then, there were a couple that went bad, and I swore I'd never cellar again.

Besides, I could never shake the fear that I'd get hit by a bus and leave behind all this great beer that I never got to drink. I'm not suggesting you should never cellar a beer, but the risk to benefit ratio doesn't work for me.

Like many of us, I've also learned this the hard way. Now I'm stuck with a bunch of bottles that I'm probably going to end up giving away or selling for dirt cheap when it comes time for me to move at the beginning of next year.

Rarely, if ever, has my impression changed for the better after aging for a year or more.

Cracked my bottle to see if it was infected and it is fine. I kept mine in the fridge since I bought it and I am thinking that might have kept infection at bay.

I did. It was surprisingly tasty and easy-drinking. I definitely enjoyed it.

There are very few beers that I have cellared that benefited more than opening and enjoying fresh. The risk/reward doesnt match up. However, the beers that did benefit were well worth it. Particularly BCBS, SN Bigfoot, Central Waters BA Stout and SN BA Narwhal. The fresh batch of Ba Narwhal was so in your face. I aged one for 2 years and it was so much fucking better.

Haha, this is the only reason I started an account on IG. You have to be a member to access that.
