I’m gonna be bit of a contrarian, and just say that outside of Dovetail, I think 3 Floyd’s produces the best German and Lager style beers in the area.

Now, price point and availability is a sticking point, no doubt, and I honestly don’t purchase they style from craft brewers very often - it’s usually just cheaper to go for a quality import or cheap macro.

But don’t overlook FFF, especially if you see it on draft. They usually are forgotten in this because of the whole “not normal” thing, and as being on the forefront of hops, but they absolutely nail the German stuff.

i imagine that there is quite a bit of jones and hyper considering 6 bottle limits on both. no idea on cognac.

It isn't bad, but I don't think I consumed a third of the can before dumping it. Would love it if Chicago could start making NEIPAs that aren't over the top on sugar compared to their coastal brethren....

 

I don't find PW NE style beers to be over the top sweet. Especially compared to other Chicago producers, like Hop Butcher.

 

I've probably said it around here before, but I'll say it again. Supremium Hypster Beast Mode may be my beer of the year. Perhaps not the highest scoring beer I've had all year, but in terms of new beers in our market that were readily available and something I can drink a few of...this was probably it.

 

Would agree that Vol and Hypster are my 1,2 for the year as far as quality and availability. VoL slightly edges out Hypster for me. Hope they keep making these consistently.
