This is exactly why I was not impressed with vanilla at all despite loving the previous vanilla releases. It was just an amateur-ish version of it, not integrated with the rest of the beer at all.

    You nailed it.

To be honest, while I have more "respect" for better integrated vanilla beers (Vanilla Deth, for example), generally when I look for a BA vanilla stout, I want to be punched in the face. You hear a lot about how much breweries spent on vanilla beans, how painstaking the process is to use them, etc., so I want to take a sip and say "oh yeah, you can definitely see they used a metric ton of this shit."

I think Goose did a good job with the variety of variants (awkward phrase) this year (Prop and MO were nicely balanced, Bramble is a different take than usual on their fruited stouts and Wheatwine is an excellent barleywine-adjacent), so maybe they just explicitly wanted a vanilla bomb. After all, they already did both a Vanilla and a Vanilla Rye, so maybe they wanted to approach this one differently.

I thought it was only Kentucky and illinois. I've heard several stores in New York had it at 3pp.

No, no, I was referring to you calling Chicago a separate state from IL

Yeah that was acknowledged and ignored. You must have missed my correction on the following post. I just wanted to get back to the subject.

Finally had BCBS '18 last night; I was skeptical that I'd find it any different than other years (barring tiny variations, of course), but I actually thought it was a little more tart and fruity than usual like some others have said. I liked it, but it definitely isn't one of my favorite years fresh.

Yep. I've had 3-4 of them now, and in my initial assessment I said I didn't like it due to the tartness/fruit-forward taste. I was sick and had a shitty palate, so I wanted to try some more. After that first one, it has grown on me a little bit, and is a good beer, but I still prefer numerous other years ahead of it as far as regular goes. I had a 17 a week ago, and that was far superior, for me, at least. Have a 16 in the fridge that I'll likely do a vertical of 16-17-18 at some point here to see what I think, and which of the 3 I prefer. Maybe Christmas.

Reserve on tap last night at Kaiser Tiger. I’d guess it’s still on today, as not many other people seemed to be drinking it last night.

I did not ask. This was Bowling Green Kentucky. This was a liquor store attached to a gas station. They had lots of rare bourbons, too...for above what you can buy them online from online liquor stores.

New member here but have been lurking for awhile; I’m heading to 3F’s Friday; would anyone know of somewhere within 30 minutes of there to grab some regular BCBS or MO/Vanilla? I know peeps are protective of their hidey holes....thx

Just spend your money on FFF's BA beers. They have a ton to go right now.
