I pulled the info from my local guy for the above pic I posted, they did their version of a Brut which is why they are more hazy in appearance.
"Officially a new Brut IPA on the market; our twist on this newly introduced brewing style, Brutal Nature. Unlike the typical way to brew a Brut; with a special enzyme to further break down sugars to create extra dryness, instead we used a combination of English and Belgian yeast in co-fermentation plus cracked kernels of yellow corn from @grainrandd to enhance dry characteristics. Brewed with a majority of AZ grown and malted Sinagua Malt (@hauserandhauser @sinaguamalt) and dry hopped with Lemondrop, Ekuanot, and Jarrylo hops. A light and easy IPA with a subtle body and bitterness".

I think what we are going to see is a breweries take on the style verse a pure form of the style.

I picked up a sixer of this recently and I actually liked it. At first I didn't I will admit. But it started to grow on me. And now the last couple I have had I knew what to expect. I wouldn't necessarily say the bitterness is low in this beer but it's not ruination bitterness. It does finish much drier than their other efforts. All this being said, I like the original Enjoy By better..

I've only had the one from New Belgium and I wasn't a fan. But then, I never thought that New Belgium hoppy beers were all that.

Had it on draft tonight, def nothing special. Almost like a 9% Pilsner.

Just reviewed one. When I was in college 20 years ago, every brewer had a "dry" beer in their lineup. This is totally Enjoy By Dry. Stone used some tricks to dry out the original recipe and jumped on the train. All that aside, it's a really nice and drinkable DIPA.

I normally pick up a couple six packs of every Enjoy By release and was hoping Christmas would bring the traditional Unfiltered version. So glad I did not buy more than an single of this 'Brut' as I did not care for it at all. To me, it is a totally different beer than the big West Coast DIPA that Enjoy by has been. Surprised they marketed this variant as such.

My favorite enjoy by to date and I'm a big fan of the regular and unfiltered.

I think I know what you meant, but Stone's traditional IPA is not malty at all. It's a bitter traditional West Coast style IPA.

Just because a beer is darker/more amber, doesn't mean that it's maltier.

    Don't you mean opaque?

This description just sounds like a riff on the New England IPA style, rather than the Brut IPA style.

While that does seem to be what some folks are going for, my experience has taught me that when a beer is straight up opaque it is often a sign of imbalanced flavors and the use of straight up flour or other shenanigans in pursuit of that mouthfeel. All the best neipas i've had (admittedly none from the best esteemed purveyors of the style) have been 'hazy' as opposed straight up murky. When I rate the style I always look for an appearance more translucent than opaque

I suspect most of these things are a riff on something else with the brewer choosing a name based more on marketing appeal than actually being descriptive of the brew.

Have you ever had anything from Trillium or Bissell Brothers? Quite murky, no shenanigans.

For many of their IPAs anyhow.

Around out here, there's been some terrific murk bombs from Alvarado Street and Great Notion. I've pretty much loved all of the East Coast murky cloudy beers I've had, they all seem to have it super fruity & not bitter.

Concerning this thread, man this Stone was not very Brut at all and just like their typical super bitter DIPAs.

This is only my second Brut IPA so I am by no means an expert but it seemed okay and Brut-ish to me, as it was pretty dry and bitter. I am glad I got just a single, that was enough for me.

This is my post from the Does Anybody Like Brut IPA.

Stone Enjoy By 1/1/18. Smells like an APA. Looks like a hazy AIPA at first, then the chill haze fades and then it looks like a West Coast AIPA.
Uniformly dry except for the almost semi-sweet middle of the taste profile, which is fruity like an NEIPA. As it warms there's a faint silage funk.
If this beer represents the style well, its a style worth exploring.
1st one of this new style for me, this is my 3rd Enjoy By.

I have five of these left, enjoyed the 1st of the 6-er during the 2nd half of the Pats game. Had to draw back on the ABV level, switched to English Brown Ale. This one's getting a very positive review after after X-Mass.
