Thanks Half Acre, I didn't want to stick to my beer budget for the month anyway...

VIM is real interesting. lots of barrel character from the woodford and a decent bourbon burn. I decided against buying the 2 pack cause it's not quite the flavor profile I want but a very interesting beer.

Personally thought VIM was utterly fantastic, exceptional barrel character. The plum sour was very good too

I had VIM at lunch today at Balmoral. It was a good beer that I rated at 4.25, but there’s just so much beer I’ve already got, I didn’t grab any to go.

I literally just came to this forum to voice the same thought. This year's regular Benthic seems to have significantly less coconut than previous vintages. Had all three versions at a party last night and found that a combo of Double Dose and regular was much closer to what I remember. Is it crazy to think that they dialed regular back a bit to make Double Dose "pop" more!?!?

Coconut is a surprisingly tough thing to pull off in beer. Gotta use a ton of it, but not so much that you get suntan oil taste, and from batch to batch of the same beer it'll infuse differently every time.

I doubt half acre dialed anything back.

I had a bottle Friday night - definitely agree that it was less coconut than I remember. Still a pretty good beer though.

Has anyone been to the New Year’s Eve parties at either half acre location before? I’ve been to previous parties and they always turn out great so I would expect nothing less than an amazing time.

Wasn’t aware they did ticketed events in the past. I’ve been there a few times and they gave free small pours of a beer at midnight. One year it was pony with champagne yeast IIRC. The ticketed event sounds like it has potential.

Can we just hit pause on beer for like a week?

"Goon Sap"? Are they selling out so fast they can take shots at customers?

I have to say, about half the time I just roll my eyes reading HA's beer descriptions. It's like they're both high off their asses AND trying to make it as hard to read as possible. :stuck_out_tongue:

Of course they’re high. Have you never spent 5 min at Lincoln bs’ing with them? :stuck_out_tongue:
