Yeah, HB competitions in Panama are really new, theres just 1 big competition which is once a year, it was in January, im aiming for that one but a brew house just created this new competition for june and im gonna give it a shot, i dont know how good are my beers, doent matter much in the end if i enjoy what im doing and if i can drink it hahahaha.

About the recipe yeah, im going like really basic, by the book. And see how it goes. What yeast do you like the most for blonde ales? I made one with nothingham, but i dont know if i should try something different like US 05 or Wyeast 1056?

Im doing BIAB 3 gal batches. is easier and i can brew more often this way.

My favorite for a Blonde Ale is Wyeast 1968 (WLP002).

I like 1968 in a blonde if its fermented pretty cold, otherwise it has too much of a fuller's flavors

another one I like for a blonde is 1332

Hey again guys/gals, just to take back this old post, now i have time to brew this again, last time i ended up with an amber ale but im going with the blonde ale as i planned.

Im kind of confused with the malts that i should use for this blonde ale, 2 row will be my base malt but the other malt are the one giving me a headache. Is a 5 gallon batch btw all grain

    Im planning to use
    Caramel 10L (1 lb or 0.5 lb?)

    Considering
    Carapils 0.5 lb
    Vienna 0.5 lb
Or Munich 0.5 lb or maybe both?

Also, i dont know if Wheat Malt has any place in this recipe aswell?

Is a Syndrome i called "i wanna put everything in the beer" lol and the main reason of my confusion is this, i feel that if i dont use 3 or 4 malts it will be too simple of a beer. For what ive seen from past competitions, really complex beers are the ones that win the medals, stouts, fruit beers, imperials, neipa, IPA, to name a few, and i dont know how my blonde ale can compete against that if its too simple. I wanna brew this blonde, not a stout or anything else and i feel that is kind of unfair, it feels bias for complex beers. (Just MHO)

All recomendations and critics are welcome, i wanna brew something good and see how it goes.

    Thanks in advance.

    A blonde is supposed to be simple. 85% 2 row, 5 %c10, 10%wheat... enjoy.

Lines are blurry between cream ales and blondes, blondes and pale ales, session ipas and pale ales, pale ales and IPAs, pale ales and NEIPAs, NEIPAs and IPAs. I probably have some subtle expectations, based on what you call it, but if it is good, and sufficiently pale, I won't make throw a style tantrum.
