Here on BA would be good if it's not too much trouble.

I am curious what the HBU's were in that recipe.
    Remember HBU's?
    Thanks for posting.

Hah, yeah I remember. I'll see if I still have the old notes when I get home, but it was a fairly bitter beer. Also, keep in mind that the thing that makes it work is the fairly low apparent attenuation (71-72%), so I do remember mashing pretty high, like 156F.

In the year 3000 there will be two types of beer:

    1) A glass of water with 4% ABV

    2) A slurry of pulverized bourbon barrels, spoiled mangos, and chocolate cake at 30% ABV

I like oyster stouts, but they vary. Some are just stouts made to enjoy with oysters in particular and seafood in general. Some pump the wort over oyster shells, and some use actual oysters. Marston's and Adnams are two English oyster stouts that I have enjoyed......But, I have always loved Ipswich Oatmeal Stout and wish I could get it regularly.

That was brilliant, that was, but it won't take until the year 3000 for that to happen. 2020, maybe?

Don’t forget Mayflower Winter Oatmeal Stout, clocking in at 5.4% ABV. A solid beer.

    Most of these stories/articles are about someone's opinion/personal tastes/preference.

I'll probably just grab a Diet Coke then.

I think the can says 5% ABV. I've always wondered about this discrepancy.

I picked some of this up a month or so ago as well.

Of my local brewers 2 have a regular stout that is always on and solid and less than 7%, 3 have porters that are solid and always on, 1 has a milk stout that is year round in cans. I get that it's not really everywhere like this but I really don't see the style dying

I can only imagine that the previous generation of beer drinkers said something similar about the ibu wars making their favorite styles disappear. And the generation before that about light lagers. And the generation before that....

If people want to drink something different than my preferences, then I should be glad that they can find joy in something.

I was thinking yesterday, this article could just have easily been written about imperial stouts too.

By that I mean, no additives, flavorings or barrel-aging.

In Illinois to see the family for Christmas. Man, I really want Great Lakes in Texas. I always pick up Edmond Fitz, and this is the first time in my parents area I found Ohio City Oatmeal Stout. Which is excellent.

Where in Illinois? I looked around for it up north, but haven't found it yet.

Champaign. From my experience central and northern Illinois seem to be completely different when it comes to distribution. At least it was when I lived there years ago, so maybe not so available elsewhere?
