You got two diseases from one tick bite? Dang. When you were a kid, was your nickname "Lucky?" I hope you can shake them off quickly.

I'm honestly surprised how good this stout is. 2 weeks in the fermentation chamber. about a week and a half in the keezer. Seriously the best stout I've made to date.

Thanks, it's not fun, but my 3rd run in with Lyme, first with the babeosis or some spelling.

I'm on the antibiotic now and slowly improving, but it's a bit tougher to kick these thing when you get older.

Sorry to hear. The prevalence of diseased ticks in the upper Midwest and northeast is a real game changer. I recommend permethrin treated clothes, pants tucked into boots, and frequent tick checks to my employees working outdoors. We’ve had a case of Lymes in each of the past 4 yrs. Or 5 for 5, if you count my dog.

Edit: And I’m drinking my Janet’s Brown inspired hoppishly porterish ale. Not sure if hops work as a tick repellent, but since we have 4 inches of snow right now, not exactly the time to assess that.

@pweis909 and that's the shame of it. Usually I am always wherein treated cloths . I stopped spraying for about a month.

Bad Gorm for sure. Won't make that mistake again.

A porter packaged in September starting to come around to what I had in mind. More tweaking for the next batch.

After a suggestion by my son's homebrew buddy, re-dryhopped my Denali SMASH Brut with 6 more oz of Denali (originally only 3 oz)...drinking like MOJO already (pineapple bomb)

Currently on tap here, a Golden Promise/Galaxy SMaSH and an interpretation of a dry English cider made from a local orchard's cider. The SMaSH is at that sweet spot where about four weeks after packaging, the flavors have absolutely melded. It won't last long.

I'm a beer guy first and foremost, but I have to say making cider every fall and experimenting with different yeast and sweetness levels every batch is becoming an absolute highlight. The short "brew day" is a bonus too! :sunglasses:

This is my favorite hoppy brew to date. Gluten free IPA w/ Chinook & Simcoe. I'm gonna finish these off and then I'm talking a drinking hiatus for January. I'll have 4 new fresh brews waiting for me come Superbowl. Slainte!

Medium-rare filet, pan-seared scallops, haricot vert, and is that mac 'n cheese? Looks like an awesome dinner to wash down with a homebrew....kudos.

Me, I'm just ringing in the New Year with a Maris Otter Styrian Golding Celia SMaSH.
