I'm not sure what to make of this beer. Got some interesting flavors, that I'm just not sure work together.

look: 4 | smell: 4.25 | taste: 3.5 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 3.75

Pours a reddish brown color. The head was maybe a 1/2 finger. Slightly off white. What was there didn't last extremely long, and dissipated to a ring around the glass.
The nose - to quote Jed Clampett - Ohhh Doggie! Nice sour blackberry aroma. Just totally pleasing to my nose. There's also a slight sweet undertone to the sour that adds to the aroma in a pleasing way.
Taste - There's the blackberry. It's not very sour as the nose would suggest. There's a bready, yeasty flavor to this beer that overwhelms the blackberry. Not sure I'm digging it.
There's some carbonation that tickles my throat. Decent body.
Boy, I'm glad to try it, but not sure that it really works right. It is a unique beer, to say the least.

 

I switched over to my usual go to beer for now ...

 

I dig the reverend . . . I hear his music on NPR from time to time. Good stuff !

Imperial Ryezenbock at Rushing Duck. RD really knows how to brew big European beer styles and this Weizenbock is no exception. Big flavors of apple, plum, raisin, caramel, and dark rye bread. And the 11.2% ABV is dangerously deceptive.

 

I understand. As long as you recognized the sarcasm I am happy.

That's interesting . . . I haven't really ever considered comparing Chopan -vs- Liszt
I may have to dig up some cd's and have a throw down tonight over some ipa's.

I do not currently own that recording of the 9th . . . That will soon change. Naxos recordings are awesome and well worth the money in my opinion.

 

Best fridge cleaning beer ever.

 

Second half of a growlette of Woodgrain Bourbon/Maple Barrel Aged Yuge Imperial Porter. This is one kick-ass beer.

 

Next to last one from my 4 hour old 4 pack. Guess I should have bought 2.
