What beer are you drinking now? #2260

Well, home after an extended happy hour with good friends on the GF’s side. A few oysters and shrimps (star of the night, close second to the vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce on the profiteroles) eaten. Time to relax into a coma with my favorite:

Corked and caged bottle poured into a rejuvenated glass

Clear copper liquid, scant ring

Aroma of tart crispness, whiff of apples

Tart Brett, funky, citrus with a whisper of oak on the taste

Low sudsing , tart dry finish

Good beer

 

Elysian BiFrost Winter Ale. Wifey called me down to the deli for a bite- all beef dog, yellow mustard, chopped red onion. Now time for the main event from San Antonio. Go 'Clones!

I had a wonderful visit with Mr. and Mrs. @scream this evening! Here are the beers we shared. The first one is courtesy of @SomethingClever. It was delicious! Thank you, sir! The second one @scream got in California. It is quite exceptional! Thank you for a wonderful evening, beer shopping for me, and for the gift, @scream!

Gotta have one of these every once in a while just to remember how great they really are. So much complexity, deliciousness and drinkability.

Ps that container with the red lid in the background has some leftover goulash from
Xmas night that will soon be reheated and that mufuh was pretty profound too!

 

Cracking another one from @bl00 Collusion Tap works Animorphus #22. Really well done thanks Dan.

 

Pipeworks Speed of Sound Oat IPA (Mosaic/Mosaic cryo). An enormous amount of bright, slightly under-ripened blueberry from the Mosaic hops. Smells and tastes like blueberries were added to the beer. Also a huge amount of weed dankness, overly-ripe pineapple and mango, yellow grapefruit, lemon, and clementine. Outstanding stuff. Shows off the intensity and complexity of the hop well.

 

This is a first for me. A bourbon barrel aged schwarzbier. Pretty tasty!

You all know how I feel about Jack’s Abby, but this High West is tits. The spicyness accompanied by the smoothness. Amazing.

 

That album brings back all kinds of memories for me. My mom played it all the time when I was a kid, and she still does!

 

Fantastic! Aromas and flavors of huge milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, walnuts, raisin, plum, fig, and toasted dark bread; with light notes of licorice, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, herbal hop, and yeast earthiness. Light herbal, roast, char bitterness on the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full body. Very creamy, silky, velvety malts; light sticky hops and chalky char/roast in the mouthfeel. Lightly increasing lingering bitter dryness; no cloying/acrid flavors. Mildly increasing warmth of 10%. Dangerously smooth sipping. Amazingly rich malt complexity and balanced walnut flavors; mild fruity yeast and earthy hops against sweetness. Grabbed a few when I was in Ohio last month. Still more left.

Passed on a $25 bottle of CBS today. Still not completely secure in my decision. This will have to do for now... while catching up on Vikings.

 

I listened to it's a lot when I was much younger. I've really enjoyed listening to it again this year. David Lanz has a similar Christmas album that's really good too.
