They just wheeled back a Keg of “DDH dollar slice” so that’s what it is.

Got off the subway train at 1pm and they just posted they were out out of everything except Crunchee.

But that was a pre-post and they had 4 cases of SIcker than your average yet. I guess I “lucked” out... still thinking it will be a bit over the top.

Thought I hate crunches but loved it. Wish it was a little sour. Had the others in the taproom beforehand and was not impressed so only picked up the blueberry.

Same one that Root + Branch called out. They’re just snitching on themselves at this point.

It isn't illegal and it gets the beer out there to more people. I'd hate to miss out on cans while this is happening, but it isn't personal.

Are you familiar with the legality of the situation? They also clearly sell cans from out-of-state (and yet tell breweries that they do not. see: the Foam post), which is certainly illegal, correct? I know NY has more lenient in-state rules and am curious about the specifics... but don't have much faith in this particular vendor given their history.

The fact that they've deleted many, many comments questioning (a) whether they sell these cans and (b) the legality, doesn't bode well.

It actually is quite illegal because of the increase in costs per can and eliminating legal distributors. The same reason certain websites are illegal, which is why it is always odd when they blatantly would put themselves out there with it. You can't purchase and then resell for a profit if not done through the correct channels, or at least should do it under the radar.

It’s totally illegal and puts the stores who play by the rules at a disadvantage. Look at their post before this, they had a haul from New England for sale. Stores like this suck.

Does the alcohol regulatory arm in NY simply not care? They would be all over this in PA, where they occasionally bust private sellers from [insert the typical beer sales sites here] to dampen the market.

Legality aside, these were the guys making racist comments to the R&B team on insta right? If so double fuck them

Yup. Nobody would care about the legality if they weren’t total pricks. Talk about morons...

I should also mention that the reason the Root + Branch guys were so pissed off was because Lake Ronkonkoma was reselling while there was still a line at the brewery. It’s totally illegal and just a dick move.

A friend in the industry (involved with both brewing and distribution) has mentioned to me that it isn't illegal for someone to buy these cans and then resell them at their storefront.

As per the out of state stuff, sort it out somewhere else. This is an Other Half thread. I bet you can get the Tree House guys in the New England forum plenty riled up!

The Root and Branch incident certainly exposed these guys as pricks but let's not be too dramatic.

Drinking one now. Tastes like a shitty cream soda, honestly. I'll edit this post if it changes as it warms, but I'm really glad I only bought a 4-pack with the intent of giving 2 away.

    - "This store is doing something illegal."

    - "Actually they aren't doing something illegal."

    - "Are you sure? Pretty sure it is."

    - "My friend told me it wasn't and let's keep discussion of the assuredly illegal aspect of this practice out of this thread and not be dramatic."

Fair enough in all regards except "assuredly."

It isn't illegal just because you think it is, nor is it more likely it's illegal because you think it is. The onus of proof should be with those claiming a crime was committed. They claim they have a class C distributor license which you can read about here: https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/laws/ABC/92-A

Plus who cares if it's illegal? We're all using a website that facilitates trading of beer which is at best legal in some cases?

Again, they're obviously pricks and racist, bigoted pricks at that, but let's not make uniformed claims about any crimes they may be committing without any proof.
