Alvarado St. — Row Your Oat
An oat IPA with milk sugar. Canned on 12/18/18



Wasn't planning on picking up this can, since I'm not big on milkshake IPAs, but my lbs owner convinced me. Pours murky bright yellow, with not much of a cap, which also dies quickly. No lacing left on the glass. This is a common theme for Alvarado St. milkshake IPAs. Smell quite forward and reminiscent of sweet oranges. No lactose, and very little yeast on the nose (good!).

Again, I'm not usually a fan of such IPAs, but this tastes awesome. It's one of the juiciest beers I've had to date, and sort of reminds out of Galaxy-hopped Monkish releases, even though only Mosaic has been used here. There's a bit of hop burn on the back end, but I'm weird and enjoy that in beers. Yeast is slightly apparent, as is milk sugar, but both take minor roles. The body is smooth, creamy, mediumly carbonated. Alcohol is very well hidden.

I'm actually pleased with this buy, though I was skeptical initially. This is a real juice bomb, and I don't think I could drink several in a row. In a moderate amount of one can, however, it is awesome.

I need a flavor change up from that last NEIPA, so a Belgian it is - “Tripel Karmeliet” from Brouwerij Bosteels, Belgium:

 

Getting ready for another "dysfunctional" family get-together! I'm slightly exaggerating.
First time with this beer and first time with this brewery. Awesome stuff! And so drinkable, even at 11%.

“Proper AF!”

Hazy orange liquid, three finger soapy white foam cap, sticky lacings, settles to a dense foam layer in about 5 minutes

Aroma of citrus, tangerine, mandarin orange, earthiness,

Taste of citrus hops, orange, tangerine

Hop taste no bite

Good beer
