Yeah - I'm hoping it was Binny's noticing they were more expensive than others. In 2017 the Jewel grocery store prices were less across the board, and you have to figure Binny's was getting the best price based on volume.

I would like the record to reflect that I did not page you. I probably should have. Thanks for the correction. Swore reg was $10.99 at Binny's last year. Wasn't Jewel $12.99 for reg this year, or am I imagining that too?

Anyone have Jewel pricing this year? I did not make it there and have not got confirmation from anyone on their pricing.
(sorry @flat_lander - we put in new flooring on the entire 1st floor and then had 40 people for Christmas so the past 5 weeks has been a blur)

2014 kicked in an hour. 2015 to be available at start of the Alabama game. Due to large demand, they switched from 9 oz $12 to 6 oz $9 pours for 2014 (and likely 2015).

2018 are full kegs so you should be good on that end. Rabbits nearby also has a few BCS left.

For those interested Vanilla, Wheatwine, and coffee barley are all on tap at the Marianos at Ravenswood and Lawrence. Pretty good pours for only $6.

    Yea, it's a fantastic deal.

Bartender: Sir, BCBS comes in 5oz pours if that's ok?
    Me: Sure.
Bartender then goes and pours 10oz.

Plank Road Tap Room has the lineup including Reserve on draft today. A rarity to see Reserve for sure

Too good of a deal. I just have worried visions of going overboard and someone finding me faced down under a crashed shopping cart with loads of impulse buys scattered across the snack aisle.

I'd be making it rain Gardetto's Special Request rye chips all over that place.

Multiple cases of 17 and 18 Regular at Jewel on Desplaines for $9.99. Also wheatwine but don't remember pricing (probably 2 bucks off like regular).

Glad this got unlocked as I got important things to discuss here and I didn't want to be the @Quilentro of the BCBS 2019 thread.

I know a lot of people haven't loved regular this year (i.e. lots of cherry, stone fruit, red-wine, savory leaning notes) as opposed to the typical char, sweet, boozy oak, and vanilla highlights we all know and love. So I was confused as the bottle I opened back around the release was the latter profile. And I thought, WTF are these guys talking about. Well, then I open a bottle with my neighbors the other night on NYE and it very much had the former profile. Still enjoyable, but again, WTF. So I'm pondering this the next day and have a lightbulb go off. The one we drank the other night was the 15.2% blend. The one I had a month ago was the 14.7% blend. Can anyone backtrack check ins and see if I'm onto something here or just full of it?

Also, I never bought a bottle of Brasserie Noir when it came out because I generally dislike wine barrel aged stuff. Well, ran into it on draft last weekend and it's pretty fantastic stuff. I was surprised how much I liked it.

There are different bottling dates, which I'm assuming accounts for the differences.

Great. Haven’t had any of my reg yet. Now I’m sitting in traffic with more anxiety than before. Thanks

Not 100% sure, but I'm fairly certain that this is what people have been talking about since I started on Beer Advocate since 2016. BCS (much like any other BA beer) can be polarizing and leave people with a ton of different notes. I have had this year's on draft and bottle and mostly taste the same creamy, vanilla, tobacco, and liquorice I absolutely love. I've also had in the last year had 13, 15, 16, and 17 and notice only slight flavor changes over the years mostly of which tone the chocolate and charred notes a bit while retaining the bourbon characteristics. ABV, age, bottle v. draft, head brewer, who the sue chef was at the InBev corporate cafe, if you ate a bunch of eggs the night before, always get discussed with no real conclusion. I think mostly, it stays pretty consistent and has a very distinct BOURBON COUNTY flavor. It's hard to put into words, but I feel lined up with other barrel aged stouts I could probably pick it blindfolded. It's interesting to talk about but I don't really think there is one particular thing you can say about the differences in batches other than you have a hunch. This is also just my humble opinion with the literal gallons of BCS regular I've had over the years.

Coffee is still amazing. I cracked a bottle of 17 a couple of weeks ago and boy is that shit fire.

I’ve also had gallons of BCBS in vintages back to 2010, and I’ll say there has definitely been a different taste to this year’s batch. I’ve never had polarizing views on regular, and have always considered it to be the best produced BA stout that is pretty easy to obtain, mainly due to the consistency that you do point out in your post. A few of the tastes I’ve had this year have not been that consistent flavor profile. I haven’t done any checking of bottling dates or ABV versions though.

    But maybe I’m loco.

Hmm, seems to be a fair statement. But I think we're all loco considering how crazy we get with BA stouts....
