Best Thread of 2018

I liked almost equally the threads that turned out to be funny or thought provoking.

I think threads that are year round are a separate category. More like "best threads of all time", or "best continual threads".

 

Yeah. That Trillium thread was epic. 32 pages covering labor practices that made national news, policies of selling trub, claims that a tequila barreled beer was just tequila dumped in and called "brewer's magic". At least the labor issue had a happy ending. That discussion takes the cake for 2018. No contest.

Maybe you had to be there. I just went back and read it, and it was the typical back-and-forth on glass styles. It did get me wondering what glass style my favorite Snörkel glass is. I have seen it called a tulip, a snifter, a snulip, a Belgian, or even a goblet. Looks like it's most commonly called a Belgian, but Belgian might be the more formal name for a snulip.

 

Can you please post the thread link? I’d like to relive the glory, but can’t find it.

 

Ok. I change my vote. That Yale Terrace thread is gold, and it got better as it grew in length. I’m heading over to subscribe to the 2019 one now and will begin suggesting to my wife New Jersey as a vacation destination later this evening.

That ain't it. I can't find it either so perhaps it was deep-sixed.

 

Must be. I searched for every thread that mentions "snulip". Most were WBAYDN and NBS. I skipped those and looked at the rest, but none looked like they were the one.

 

It was a thread where a relatively-new BA posted a treatise about how most glasses posing as tulips these days are really snulips because they aren’t flared out at the top. IIRC, he had diagrams and everything. The post attracted a huge number of snide remarks. I hope the OP is still here, but I had the impression he was more or less run off the site.

He probably didn’t invent the term snulip, but he certainly introduced me and a lot of other people to it. It’s impressive that there’s been more than 200 posts that use the term on this site since then.

 

Just found that it was the best thread of 2016, still looking.
