What beer are you drinking now? #2265

I'm halfway through a Flying Dog, The Truth. Looking back at my review from when I had it in 2016, it was a fruit bomb. This time around, it is dank af. It smells like a fresh bag of weed, and nothing else. It even tastes like weed. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I wonder if it's a matter of freshness. This bottle doesn't have a bottled on date, but it has a best by date of 4/23/19, so it must be pretty fresh. Maybe that's how ir works, or maybe Flying Dog has fiddled with it since 2016. Who knows, it's still good, so cheers!

 

I saw a newer version in the store the other day so I figured it was safe to drink this one and I could buy another if it's as good as I hoped. Well all I can say is this was a huge disappointment. The plain old Old Rasputin is my favorite RIS period. I coulda' bought a pair of 4x12's and a couple of Slims Jims for what they want for this. Oh well. I scored it at 3.98, oh well.

 

Miss Bailey turned 3 today and we 'celebrated' by taking her older sister back to the vet. My old girl Payton is headed towards 14 and has been battling what they 'think' is a nasty ear infection, but are now suspicious there may be something else going on. The clock is ticking for the always stressful 24 hour wait for the bloodwork results.

I found what I believe to be the final 2016 bottle in the stash. Maybe it will motivate me to finally pick up a new six pack of cans? Cheers to the 9th day, the depressing job of taking the decorations down will begin in a few days. It always seems so dark afterwards.

 

Yes this stuff makes me smile! Great name and beer.

11/21/18 of a beer I know I've had before - probably 6-7 years ago, but somehow never reviewed...? A throwback to the pre-NEIPA craze, the beer has a relatively balanced profile between pine-like resinousness and soft citrus fruit tones... Moderately bitter, mildly sweet, with subdued carbonation; leaves a light, vaguely fruity shellac on the finish...
