I don't think you can fault waitstaff for that - that's simply a lack of adequate training on the behalf of management. Some servers will take it upon themselves to educate themselves relative to the world of beer, but I think that's a rare gem.

 

I must disagree. This is not related to only beer. It is about showing what you are offering the customer. If you are not going to keep it up to date then do not post it on a sign anywhere.

 

Exfreakingzactly. My friends know that I’m “a beer guy” and are puzzled when I order my usual when we’re at a restaurant - unsweetened ice tea. I will however go for a bourbon. I only have 3-4 different bourbons at the house at any given time, so trying a new one makes sense.

 

Back in the middle of the diet Coke debate, I was going to suggest iced tea.

But...

I grew up in the South, and, to me iced tea means sweet tea. Sadly, unsweetened is pretty much all you can get here. If I order sweet tea, I get unsweetened tea in a glass full of ice, and sugar packets! (They just don't get it....)

 

When in doubt of the staff's capability I order vodka/rocks because that's a drink no one can screw up.

 

"He wants it on rocks. Do we have any rocks?"
